Because BHO plans to serve Korbel Russian River Valley (CA) "Champagne" at his inauguration. The French contend, correctly, that the only true champagne comes from the Champagne region of France.

Tempest in a Teapot? Sure. But it shows that Barry has no class. Korbel is swill!

Snobs! They whine about BHO serving Korbel Russian River Valley (CA) "Champagne" when they have the temerity to call Grey Goose vodka? Don't they know that true vodka is made in Eastern Europe and Scandinavia using potatoes? Talk about holding everyone else to a different standard. :poke: ?

Wasn't there some experiment done where French folks tasted two different wines without knowing where they were from and most favored the American wine?

Odds are that Korbel gave Obushma a campaign contribution. :coffee:

Maybe this is the French "reset" button.

Looks to be working as well as the Russian one.

If he was a real man he'd serve grain alcohol mixed with Fresca.

Very obscure. The main campus is in Carbondale. SIU-E is a much smaller branch that serves mostly commuter students.

If you can't get into SIU-C, you might as well shoot yourself. SIU-C is where C- students from southeast Missouri and St. Louis go to school.

Korbel's the real deal. Good owners who support the community.

As I'm getting older, I drink more imported, but still hold the "apples" and "oranges" argument to be true.

The french are the definition of pompous...I've had thousands of wines and I'll take a bottle of CA sparkling over "authentic" champagne any day.

BTW...Schramsberg is still my fave. "Cremant" (demi sec) made with the UCD "Flora" hybrid of Gewurztraminer and Semillon. Just perfect. Works with dinner, appetizers, dessert...just about anything.

If you like Pinot Noir or Siraz, check out Hamel Wines over by Healdsburg. They're from the same 'hood as we are, went to high school in Roseville..

Say what?

Never heard of them, and when I looked them up...the owner appears to be a hedge fund founder/wine hobbyist who's employed his non-wine educated/experienced family to make the wines (Cab/Zin/Sauv.Blanc).

Got a link?

Not handy, not sure there is one, I'll look a little more tomorrow. I think you got a different guy, this one graduated from Davis' viticulture program back in the 70s.
