Talk about Great Timing!

President Barack Obama issued an executive order to end the pay freeze on federal employees, in effect giving some federal workers a raise. One federal worker now to receive a pay increase is Vice President Joe Biden.
According to disclosure forms, Biden made a cool $225,521 last year. After the pay increase, he'll now make $231,900 per year.
Members of Congress, from the House and Senate, also will receive a little bump, as their annual salary will go from $174,000 to 174,900. Leadership in Congress, including the speaker of the House, will likewise get an increase.

Whoopdie doo. A half of one percent raise after a multi-year pay freeze. This is the windfall I've been waiting for.
I'd rather just stay under the freeze. This is a stunt, IMHO, to soften the blow of the effective 5% cut we're about to take. Part of the fiscal cliff legislation being mulled over is a mandate to deduct an additional 5% of our salary for the FERS retirement program.
But don't let facts get in the way of your bash session.

People in my field get fired all the time. Some go to jail.

Most companies are okay with posting on messageboards if it doesn't f-up your work, so I'm sticking with my original story.
