I told them Christmas is a time of giving, being grateful, and connecting with friends and family. I also told them how they should be proud of the fact that almost all Christmas traditions cebrated in our country trace their roots back to our Norse heritage. The annual return of longer days and the hope of spring just around the corner are definitely reasons to be thankful and celebrate.

The agnostic and skeptic in me generally believes that a lot of that was the invention of the church, which I do believe has corrupted a lot of what the man was all about. There's a lot more scripture that was left out of the bible than what made it in.

I don't know about god, but I can easily get behind the spirit of what the man supposedly preached. Whether he actually said any of it or not.
