Stopped at Walmart and Target the other day. They are accross the street from each other where I live. The Walmart crowd was easily 60+ percent Asian, Hispanic and African American. Accross the street at Target the crowd was 95 percent white. I was expecting but didn't see very many stereotypical Walmart Redneck shoppers as expected by reading the main stream media. These stores are located in a large suburban community located near a wealthy area where people like Kevin McHale, Walter Mondale etc live. I have my theory of why the demographics at these stores is like this, but just wanted to hear yours. :)

Sorry, don't usually do racial breakdowns of shoppers when I'm in a store... so, can't give you any figures. :coffee:

It's a pretty obvious difference in demographics, that's why I brought it up.

The crowds in our Target and Walmart are both 96% white. Then again, I live in North Scottsdale.

Same here. The nearest Target is in North Spokane.

The nearest Walmart to me is Airway Heights which has Fairchild AFB on one end of town and a prison and the regions largest indian casino on the other end.

Demographically Target doesn't even come close to the level of redneckism and whitetrash-a-tude that you see at Walmart. And that's just the difference between the employees. The customers take it to a whole different level.

Our Walmart has a small McDonalds inside. Our Target has a small Starbucks inside.
If yours is the same, this could be the difference. :twocents:
