Could the former mouth of the Communist Party know what they're talking about? Maybe. This op-ed piece seems to think otherwise, as the Pravda opinion writer is a known conservative. The President has been endorsed by the US Communist Party in the past, but that is not proof, either.

Personally, I believe that he is at least a closet Socialist, but proving it would be like the Birther thingie: probably not going to happen.

So was Eisenhower a communist when the tax rates were 91% and he built the interstates using public funding? How about the GI Bill? Cuz in capitalism, those GI's should have footed their own bill and UPS, big AG, and Detroit should have built the roads.

Obama is the epitome of corporatist/crony capitalist. Which means you should really like him SH.

Casey, communists generally don't spend money to make the free market stronger and prop up a capitalist market. If he was a communist, don't you think he'd be nationalizing industries and banks and such?

The government owns 26% of the GM stock. That isn't a nationalized industry. The gov't isn't even a majority stockholder. Btw, don't forget that GM was bailed out under TARP, which was approved by Bush in 2008. Try again.

In fact, i don't know the exact numbers but the TARP bailouts was LESS than the S&L bailouts in the 1980's and BOTH were authorized by the Bush Presidents.

No. The author is supposed to be "conservative leaning?" Sounds like a more delusional Hannity to me. Obviously, he doesn't know what Communism is and simply places the label on a liberal president.

You aren't even reading what I wrote. Bush and Obama gave $400+ billion dollars to ensure capitalism didn't fail. How is not nationalization? The government at no time stepped in an assumed control and the full mantle if responsibility for ANY COMPANY! You are angry because Mitt lost and we have a mulatto in the White House. Have some objectivity for Odins sake.

My bad. Interesting site. It looks as if GM is making good on its loan and in two years has returned $22.9B to the Gov't including almost $700M in revenue (from dividends). They still owe $27B but i'm willing to say that at the rate they are going, by Dec. 2014 the loan will be almost paid off and the gubmit would have made a little more than $1B on the deal. Not too shabby if you think about how many people kept thier jobs.

The taxpayers will likely never make $$$ on the deal even if you don't include Ally/GMAC. But you have to include them as they were part of GM before the bailout. The almost 38 billion that the taxpayers are still in the hole to GM and Ally will likely never come close to being be recouped.
