The level of gloating by some I've seen is bordering on insanity. Over on the MEAC board they've taken toward calling out the 7% of blacks who DIDN'T vote for Obama.

I would say that having 90%+ of any voting block being automatically skewed towards one side or the other is a much larger issue.

They're programmed to believe that Republicans want to destroy Black America and that the Dems are their saviors. It may be another 50 years before that sentiment starts to change. The ones who have voted 3rd party in this election are being ridiculed as "wanting to see the black man fail"

Thank you for pointing out what I have been trying to point out to other Whites on this board. You are a fool if you vote Democrat because it is clear that the Democrats depend on overwhelming support from minority ethnic groups in order to win Presidential elections. Again: No Democrat has won the majority of the White vote since at least as far back as Nixon vs. Humphrey.

If you've been watching political coverage in recent days you may have noted that the Democrats were watching White turnout. More White turnout was bad. Less White turnout was good.

The only thing Malcolm X was wrong about is that it's not really razor thin among Whites. When Obama ran against McCain he got more of the White vote than Kerry or Gore did but McCain still won by 55% to 43% among Whites. And he won both among White men (57% to 41%) and White women (53% to 46%).

This time, Romney won by 59% to 39% among Whites. He won among White men (62% to 35%) and White women (56% to 42%). He won among Whites 18 to 29 years old (51% to 44%). Pick an exit poll breakdown and if it has "White" at the start Romney won among that group by a comfortable margin.

But the Democrat, again, won by overwhelming majorities among minority ethnic groups. And "overwhelming" is the key word. Democrats cannot afford to do ANYTHING that will lessen their support among minority ethnic groups at all. If it's 80% of the Black vote instead of 90%, for instance, they lose.

The Democrats know what the situation is and they govern accordingly. Because of that, if you are White and vote Democrat, you are asking to be screwed. It's just a shame that there are enough Whites who don't grasp that to provide enough votes to get the Democrats over the top.

No you wouldn't. If Republicans could get even 10 percent of Blacks to take themselves off the table by voting Libertarian or anything other then Democrat they'd win. If 90% of Blacks started voting Libertarian Democrats would have no chance in Presidential elections and Republicans would be thrilled with the situation. There would be absolutely no need for them to court the Black vote.

Right now there IS a need for them to at least TRY to do it because if they could even pick off enough to make it 80% to 20% for Democrats instead of 90% to 10% they'd win. But if Blacks just went running over to vote Libertarian they wouldn't need to do that.

And Blacks aren't going to vote Libertarian because Libertarians don't believe in handouts and affirmative action. Sorry, that's blunt. But it's true.

I'd rather convince 90% of the WHITE population to start voting Libertarian. THEN we'd see some change around here. There isn't another subgroup that's large enough to get the two-party system killed.
