Charter schools are good in theory but many times poor in practice. Many charter schools have been epic failures here in PA, with some even being investigated for improper use of taxpayer funds. Hopefully WA can make them work as intended.

Perpetuation of the War on Drugs is another reason I didn't support Obama.

But the Washington and Colorado laws are a little different in that they involve recreational use rather than hide behind the ruse of "medical" clinics. Washington's is tied into heavy taxation at both the manufacturing and retail level with estimates of billions be raised in revenue for the state.

I'm sure they crafted the initiative with an eye towards pending court cases. So it will be interesting to watch.

Washington State is ready for the legal fight
That was ALL over the streets - the state has a right to make money and manage the process
the drug has proven to be less dangerous than alcohol

The Feds will have a hard time fighting this

For the last 15 years in Washington and Oregon you'd literally have to wave a garbage bag full of the stuff on school grounds to get arrested - nobody even bothers to hide the daily use - and the police have no interest in arresting the users unless they seem too young...

Now it's time to make money on the stuff and regulate it properly
