I really really hate Affirmative Action. The real Myth is that uneducated Black people are taking job away from educated white pople. God please make this go away. We are better than this!!!!!

Hyperbole, the perception is less qualified people are getting jobs ahead of more qualified people.

Tough topic. On the one hand you have the possibility of a less qualified person getting a job ahead of a qualified person due to race/ethnicity. On the other hand you have the possibility of “the good ‘ole boys” not even having to consider hiring someone who may be qualified but “doesn’t fit the mold”. Interesting to see how this plays out.

How can we call ourself the gratest country, when we have to have a law to hire the right people. This is not American.

Yeah but what is it? Do they go with a Rooney (sp?) rule where employers just have to go through the motions of interviewing minority candidates? Why even waste people’s time if you have no intention of hiring from a certain group of people? Who knows where this will lead to.

Because in the past if the “right person” wasn’t from the “right” background, they weren’t considered for employment. I think affirmative action did allow for some barriers to be broken down for qualified people, but now it has just turned into a numbers game. If it is just a numbers game now and doesn’t allow people to hire the best qualified person, what’s the point of having it around?

Quotas don't/won't work. You try to hire the best,most qualified candidate for a job regardless of race.

Imagine quotas in sports....would anybody really want to watch NBA/MLB/NFL/College sports if they followed these percentages?

Out of that 125 for AA, only 3% are AA Males. A College Educated Black males has a tought time getting a job. My mother works for Wells Fargo bank and she said that the only black males she works with are Gay. She said they would never hire me. I lift weights, I'm bald and as my mother puts it, "you are just too manly from the gay men in my department. " So in other words, it suxx to be me.................lol

I realize why it's in place, and much like unions it may have originally served an honorable purpose, but things like Affirmative Action, NAACP, Black Congressmen's Coalition, Black this, Black that, etc., etc. are perpetuating racism....
