In Viola, Arkansas, a debate is heating up, after a student had his peanut butter and jelly sandwich confiscated at lunchtime. The school has a no-peanut-products policy due to a few students with allergies, so the teacher helped the little boy get a new lunch and sent home a note explaining the situation to his mom.

People need to grow the fuck up and be adults.

I am sick and tired of listening to the over protective parents of these kids bitch and whine until they get their way and not give a shit about others. If you have a kid that is ACTUALLY allergic make them know and understand, it is YOUR job as a parent, not to sanitize the entire world so you don't have to be a parent.

There isn't. It is just overprotective mothers/parents that think they know more than doctors and don't let their kids go outside because of the big bad world might give them a scratch and they only eat at McDonald's and frozen fish sticks.

I fucking agree 100%!! Never even heard of it until I was an adult and had a friend's kid go into anaphylaxis at a tailgate. Now my son is crazy allergic to tree nuts. He was allergic to pnuts but went through a study at Duke University that cured him of that. We are on the list to participate in a similar study on tree nuts next year. It sucks ass. I actually had to give airway support to my son while my wife drove like a bat out of hell to the ER the first time he reacted. He took one bite out of a walnut muffin while we were on vacation in Charleston. He was all but dead when we got him there. So anyone who wants to bitch about the inconvenience of not being able to make their kid a pnut butter sandwich can ride a donkey dick to hell.

You can't be with them 24 hours a day. Young kids in the pre-school to early elementary age lack the discernment to be able to make these kind of judgment calls. Should I eat that cupcake or not? Did I wash my hands? Should I share my crackers with Tommy?

Are you suggesting its ok to risk the life of a kid with allergies just so some other kid can eat his PBJ?

Epic Fail. My kid dies because your dumbass kid can't go a couple of hours without a pnut, I'm killing him, you, your entire family, your dog, your maid, then burning down your house, and shitting on all of your corpses.

Now, on a more reasonable note, I agree that at some point a kid has to be able to make the kind of decisions to protect himself from the danger. Jizzaholic is correct, they can't live in a bubble forever. So this kind of restriction is most appropriate in the early elementary setting. Although, considering the over abundance of ignorant dumbasses who are basically borderline retarded in the public school system, I'm not sure any age is safe in that setting. My kids go to a small private school which makes it much easier manage the situation. I am rather well set financially and can afford this easily, but what about the middle and lower class kids whose parents could never afford to send them to our school? Are they just fucked then? I mean, they're fucked in the long run, most of them anyway. But, do you just throw them to the wolves on this?

Kids that have medical problems grow up faster and learn to watch what they do much more closely than other kids.

I knew a few kids with allergies that were life threatening, one of them to peanuts.

My youngest grandson is deathly allergic to peanuts. Hopefully, he'll outgrow it.

It pisses me off no end the idiots that can't possibly be a little bit inconvenienced in order to possibly save a life.
