Abysmal...

but par for the course. :ohno:

Payrolls in U.S. Rose 96,000 in August, Jobless Rate Fell

"Factory employment fell by the most in two years, temporary-help companies eliminated positions for the first time in five months and the share of the working-age population in the labor force slumped to the lowest since 1981.

Today’s figures come two months before the presidential election. Employment and the economy are central themes in the campaign, with President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney each trying to convince voters they can best energize the expansion and create jobs.

Private payrolls, which exclude government agencies, rose 103,000 after a revised gain of 162,000. They were projected to rise by 142,000, the survey showed.

The jobless rate fell from 8.3 percent as 368,000 Americans left the labor force. Unemployment was forecast to hold at 8.3 percent, according to the survey median. Estimates in the Bloomberg survey ranged from 8.1 percent to 8.4 percent."

How any sane person could vote to reelect this president is mind boggling. :dunce:

I liked this part....he tells us that he needs more time, that he never promised a quick fix, and throws in some more blame at the Bush administration.
"I won't pretend the path I'm offering is quick or easy. I never have," Obama told the cheering crowd in the Time Warner Cable Arena and a television audience expected to number in the tens of millions. "You didn't elect me to tell you what you wanted to hear. You elected me to tell you the truth. And the truth is, it will take more than a few years for us to solve challenges that have built up over a decade."

Wasn't he the one who said in 2008 that if he couldn't fix this in 4 years he'd be a one-term president?

It's pretty obvious we need somebody like Mitt Romney...

 that'll fix it

No, but what IS obvious is that Obama doesn't have a clue how to fix it. That much has been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Who knows for sure?

To me, the only thing that is obvious is that 4 more years of Obama means 4 more years of stagnation.

Riddle me this: if Obama is reelected and we stay in the SH!tter (and we will... in fact things will likely get worse) and then Hillary is elected in 2016 and things start to improve immediately thereafter, will that be because of Obama or Hillary? Will Bill credit Obama's second term?

People are being led by the nose.

Mitt does not scare me in the least...
Don't tell anybody but I kinda don't really care which one of these knuckle heads gets elected
I was living in Massachusetts during his entire Governorship and trust me - He's not who he says he is - or was

He was tough on Unemployment - which is fine
The two previous Governors had a better JOB's record (Bellucci sp & Weld in particular)
The healthcare act was great frankly - I'm all for it

It's pretty obvious we need someone else, period.

Don't think anyone on here has claimed Romney is some sort of magic pill or anything, but he does have chief executive experience and knows a whole hell of a lot more about how economies work than Obama. Hell, how would he know anyway. I don't believe the guy has ever drawn a paycheck that wasn't subsidized by government funds to some degree.

What's abysmal is picking between Obama & Romney, if they're the best America has to offer, people we're long done as being the #1 country in the world....

Speaking of the jobs record. I know the Donks have a talking point that Mass was 47th or something like that in job creation under Romney, but let the facts be clear...unemployment was 5.7% when Romney went into office and was 4.7% when he left. Both figures are pretty much considered "full employment" by most standards. When you are at "full employment", there is no dire need to create jobs. :twocents:

He had a fairly hostile Democratic super majority to contend with
So pretty much everything he "veto'd" got over turned ASAP
Hey, how come he never mentions the Massachusetts HealCare act as one of his great success as Governor
It used to be all he talked about
He wouldn't shut up about it... Now *crickets..?

Why..?

#1 in what category exactly? Even with our troubles, it's not like anyone else is soaring past us (again, what are we measuring and ranking anyway?). What's happening in America is also happening, often in greater magnitude, elsewhere in the world.

I scratch my head over all the venom toward Romney... heck, all the guy has ever done is be wildly succesful in everything he's ever done- be it private sector (Bain), public sector (MA), or non profit sector (SLC Olympics).

The guy has the best resume of anybody who has run for President in my lifetime. For anybody to suggest he isn't a viable alternative to the assclown who holds the office currently is mind boggling.

He's qualified, but not charismatic. Remember that most of America is hooked on reality shows with over the top personalities that really deliver nothing. Hence the fascination with the Kardashians, Jersey Shore, and our President.

Electing Romney is like finding a caretaker with whom you can replace the retarded janitor until an actual engineer comes along.

I see that fvckin' mannequin Romney stuttering and stammering in a face off with someone like Putin. Our prestige, on the considerable uptick in the last 3.5 years, will sink with that stiff necked rich dork.

How different has Obama been from Bush?
- Hate & war: left Iraq, extended Patriot Act, kept Gitmo open, still in Afghanistan, bombed Libya (w/o Congressional approval), drone war in Pakistan & Yemen, continued proxy war in Somalia, etc.
- Elitism: is ivory tower intellectual elitism any better than wall street financial elitism? Has Obama really turned his back on corporate interests or is he speaking out of both sides of his mouth?
- Money-grubbing: REALLY? The government is going to have to tax income our kids haven't even made yet to pay for Obamacare, unnecessary military spending and other government programs. Obama has just continued Bush's policies of spending way more than the government takes in. He might want to allocate the funding slightly differently but they're still spending way too much.

It really cracks me up when Obama supporters slam Bush and vice versa. Their differences are incremental at best.
