Guess what Dude: Everybody's going to die whether there is Obama care or not. It is impossible to increase the odds of dying because the chance of dying is certainty. 100 percent.
This thing of acting like if you can point out a situation where if someone needs something government should provide it and if they don't get it there will be horrible personal consequences has got to stop. It can go on ad infinitium. There is no limit to how much government would have to spend if you adopt that mentality.

I don't think it needs to stop at all. It's the truth. Obamacare will save lives.

Health insurance for 32 million more Americans won't save lives?
Forbidding insurance companies from denying coverage due to pre-existing conditions won't save lives?
Eliminating the lifetime cap on coverage won't save lives?
Were you born stupid, or taught to be stupid by Fox "News"?

If it were a perfect world, I would agree with you Tod, but it isn't.
Obamacare is another government boondoggle.
I know this question is very sophomoric, but when EXACTLY has a government run program benefited America?
Obamacare is bullshit, and Obama is a complete amateur.

If I ran my business like the gov runs itself, I would have gone out of business long ago.
I wish both sides would get their shit together and get this huge deficit under control. Obama's tax increase proposals will not cut it. Every gov agency needs to get trimmed and streamlined.....or in some cases totally eliminated.

So will stopping abortions. You ready to jump on that bandwagon, too?

The Dr's of the civil war saved lives too, but wasn't very efficient. I just finished working a healthcare job for a year that involved Obamacare. This system caused a lot of Dr's to reduce the number of patients they could see, because is slowed down their daily routine, even though they had to spend more charge more on the extra people they hired. It just added more levels of bureaucracy that are not needed. Most of the Dr's and office staff I spoke with over the year were pretty upset over this, mostly because of the amount of time the patients had to wait. Most were concerned about losing patients, which meant losing money.

Gil,
Living in a border state, maybe you're dealing with this to some extent, but the socialized Canadian system is so inefficient they come to the US for care. You can die waiting for the procedure that will save your life.
If you want to ruin a bad situation, get the government involved.

Yeah you probably shouldn't run your business like government since govt is non-profit, and tends to do things like give away it's natural resources, and build infrastructure to benefit other businesses.
And I love the question of "when has a govt program benefited America?"

Hey, did I say it was perfect? Shit, I'll be it doesn't even count infrastructure on the balance sheet.

Of course. EVERYONE knows that opponents of the ACA simply don't want health care to be more affordable and accessible.

I'd like to see affordable and accessible healthcare, but am upset by the kneejerk "yes" vote by our Congress on legislation none or few of them could be troubled to read. This act has issues that need to be worked out and streamlined, but using "streamline" and "Congress" together in the same sentence doesn't really work. I have no problem with the premise provided that it is a well thought out plan where the benefits outweigh the costs. This legislation was shoved down everyone's throat so (a) no one understood what it covered, (b) no one knew what it cost, and (c) felt like it was fast tracked to simply check the box that the administration introduced a new healthcare system whether it was right or wrong.

Show me exactly where in the United States Constitution it says the government is in the business of saving lives.
Is it nice to save lives? Yes
Is it the governments job to do it? Absolutely not, zip, zero, nadda.

It's common sense, alpha. Everything government does should be for the benefit of the citizens.
If the government isn't in the business of saving lives, how would you explain the CDC, OSHA, MSHA, the FDA, etc.?

Due to conk legislation requiring them to currently fund benefits for workers who havnt even been born. Though I'm guessing by that time much of what they currently do will have gone the way of the typewriter.

Due to conk legislation......
Danny Davis and Henry Waxman would disagree with that statement.
