"GOP has gone goofy"

I've said it many times before. Right when I've reached the age where I'm supposed to be wearing black socks with shorts, angrily shaking my fist at the youngsters, and riding off into a beautiful conk sunset, suddenly there's no reasonable conservative party I can relate to.
Another domino:
Judge Posner: GOP has gone 'goofy'
A conservative federal judge appointed by Ronald Reagan said in an interview published Thursday that the Republican Party has gone “goofy” and that “these right-wingers who are blasting [Chief Justice John] Roberts are making a very serious mistake.”
“All of a sudden you find out that the people that you thought were your friends have turned against you, they despise you, they mistreat you, they leak to the press, what do you do? Do you become more conservative? Or do you say, ‘What am I doing with this crowd of lunatics?’”
He was referring, of course, to conservative backlash over Roberts’s opinion upholding President Barack Obama’s health care law.
Posner said “there’s been a real deterioration in conservative thinking” over the past 10 years and admitted that his own politics have changed in that time.
“I’ve become less conservative since the Republican Party started becoming goofy,” he said.

Not sure why this would make him become "less conservative".
"Less Republican", now that would make more sense.

Judge Posner always manages to make himself the epicenter of any case he's involved in. Bright guy with wide spectrum of interests, particularly in economic matters -- he thinks the whole patent system should be scrapped and started over, for example -- but he has that " rock star" mentality that can undermine a judge. We have one or two of those right here in DE.

Isn't it safe to say that both MAJOR parties have gone Goofy..?
Their core stance (on both parties) have been marginalized dramatically to pick up the fringe voter scraps of loony tune nut balls...

That's probably a fair statement. The old axiom was that candidates would play to the extremes in the primaries, and veer to the middle in the general election. Not sure that's still the case.
Maybe we should create a 51st state out of northern Idaho and western Montana and populate it with all of the Looney Tune nutballs. David Duke and Cynthia McKinney sleeping together. Mass hysteria!

You guys in the Greater Palouse Metro Area need a dose of reality. Aryan Nation and Farrakhaners in the same neighborhood!

The difference is Republicans try to appeal to the nuts who already live here, and Democrats would like to import nuts from other countries to pander to.

We need a new infusion of nut balls. The domestic ones have lost their wood.

Sorry Kalm, the government knows what's best for you better than you do and they've decided that this is the way to go. If you disagree with this factual conclusion please proceed to sub-level 4D of the Department of Externally Advantageous Decisions (DEAD) in Washington, DC and ask Drone #13024900913b for Form #309sdasdf, fill out all 482.3 pages of Form #309sdasdf and return to Drone #23098098345f on sub-level 2x of the DEAD office in Los Angeles to register your complaint. It will be reviewed and you will get a form response within 13 years. Thank you!

I LOVE government. As long as it's the other guys they are regulating and taxing.

Weak ass shit man. At least put some effort in it. Phoning it in just takes all the fun out of it for the rest of us.

Yeh, and your cheap shot was really clever.
It's obvious that you think really highly of yourself, good for you, but I'm not here to entertain you.

A whole day later? You had a whole day and that's the best response you've got? Talk about weak assed shit.
If you're going to pick an internet fight try an be better prepared.
Oh well, I'll be sure to check back tomorrow and see what other "clever" stuff you've come up with.

Sorry, I will try to do better. I have way too much shit to do to sustain any sort of real banter. I'm lucky if I can get a decent jab or two a day. I need to get my priorities in order.
On the flip side, maybe you should turn off the computer and get your pasty fat ass outside once in awhile. You are apparently on here way too much.

Think so? I don't think I'm on enough. Can't access the site at work.
Limited to weekends and evenings, after I get my bike ride in and chores done.
I manage to get a decent post total because I "mail it in".
