House approves bill to audit the Fed

In a move that serves as a capstone to Rep. Ron Paul’s colorful career, the House on Wednesday approved a bill that would let Congress’s chief investigators conduct a full audit of the Federal Reserve’s shrouded decision-making process.
The overwhelming 327-98 vote sends the bill to the Senate where Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, has previously expressed support for an audit — though it’s unclear he’ll carve out time for the legislation this year.

Good job and congrats to Ron Paul. It looks like some bipartisan support can really push this through.
Don't fuck it up, donks.

And folks question me as to why I voted for this guy last time and will again.

Donks in Senate are expected to kill the bill:

I haven't been following this issue. Why in hell would you oppose something like this?
Serious answer please. Not "just because they're stupid donks". Why in hell do they not support an audit of the Fed?
And why does legislation have to be passed to conduct such an audit?

the fed was given such independence and the Congress essentially give up some of its monetary power. This is an attempt to regain what is rightfully Congresses

But seriously. Is this just Donks being nasty because they can? Because Conks do the same when they can?
I mean, what's to lose? The audit findings wouldn't come out until after the election anyway.
Gotta love our current Government.

Note Kucinich's comments. Remember it was he, Bernie Sanders, and Ivy's favorite Harvard alumni Florida congressman (name escapes me at the moment) who supported the original audit bill in the first place. Donk leadership is trying to maintain its standing with the banks. This is where you'll see a real separation between progressives and establishment/blue dog Democrats.
Like most everything else, it all goes back to campaign finance.

I read "End the Fed" by Paul....some valid points were made that they definitely need more oversight and transparency instead of this Congressional panel convening to basically listen to Bernanke dodge and move to their questions.
Paul explained it eight different ways - the book could have been 20 pages, but I read the whole thing anyway.

The fed = infallible gods over the economy who should answer to anyone and have no accountability. If we take their power away the stupid masses might, you know, keep interest rates super low while inflation pretty much drives up the cost of everything except houses.

That is the exact reason, considering the current economic situation right now, why the DJIA is sky high right now. Wall Street loves cheap money.

Every ranking Democrat voted against it... What a bunch of gutless douche-bags
Here we have an opportunity:
The first step to opening the closed door of the federal reserve - a door that's hidden the Private Organization for 100 years, and what happens - our elected officials fold
Unbelievably dishonest bunch of cowards

The Fed reminds me of Oz, the great and powerful.
"Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!"
