LMAO

A member of the Louisiana House of Representatives who eagerly supported Gov. Bobby Jindal’s plan to fund private schools has had an epiphany: Muslim schools might start getting taxpayer money!

Rep. Valarie Hodges, a Republican who represents East Baton Rouge and Livingston, now says she wishes she hadn’t voted for the Jindal voucher bill.

“I actually support funding for teaching the fundamentals of America’s Founding Fathers’ religion, which is Christianity, in public schools or private schools,” Hodges told the Livingston Parish News.

“I liked the idea of giving parents the option of sending their children to a public school or a Christian school,” Hodges added.

Just another case of elected officials not reading what they vote on - does Obamacare at the Federal Level ring a bell??

A great example of the slippery slope associated with separation of church and state. Wing nuts who argue for prayer in school (of which btw, I'm not necessarily against), laws based on the bible, Amarica is a "christian" nation blah, blah, blah have no clue of the implications. :ohno:

Where do you even start with this?

Anyways, I'm ok with vouchers for private schools...or at least the non-profits. We pay taxes to support our educational systems and if you don't want to use it, then I think it's fine to get some money back to put it into where you want.

That said, I think parents should be a little more weary when they send their kid to religious high schools. Unless it has an established academic repertoire, I've read that most college admission officers see these institutions as worthless. They'd rather take average students (and give them scholarships) from public schools that have proven curriculum's rather than the best students from a religious school that have curriculum's they know little of.

Our previous administrations propensity for hiring lawyers from Liberty College (and the like) graduating students who couldn't then, after receiving a Masters, walk over and pass an entrance exam at a Connecticut Community College...

The phrase curriculum LITE and Relaxed standards don't go half way towards expressing the frustration of real LAW students with hard earned degrees being PASSED over in favor of the Religiously focused non-academic lawers

pure comedy :notworthy:

“America will never tap into educational innovation and ingenuity without looking at the model that we have in our madrassas, in our schools, where innovation is encouraged, where the foundation is the Quran. And that model that we are pushing in some of our schools meets the multiple needs of students.”
Dem Rep. Andre Carson
