Poll: Most Want Obamacare Opponents to Move On
By Chris Good | ABC OTUS News – 12 hrs ago

Now that the Supreme Court has upheld President Obama's health-reform law, a new poll suggests most people want the law's opponents to drop their repeal efforts and move on to other problems.

In the latest survey by the Kaiser Family Foundation, 56 percent of respondents said they prefer Obamacare opponents "stop their efforts to block the law and move on to other national problems," while 38 percent said they prefer those opponents "continue trying to block the law from being implemented."

Kaiser, a nonprofit, independent foundation that studies health policy and opinions, polled 1,239 adults beginning last Thursday, when the Supreme Court upheld Obama's health law under Congress's taxing power.

Predictably, responses broke down on partisan lines, but independents who do not lean toward either party also preferred Obamacare critics drop their repeal push by a margin of 51 percent to 35 percent. Respondents favored the Supreme Court's decision to uphold the law by a margin of 47 percent to 43 percent, Kaiser found.

As an Independent - that sounds right. Besides I don't think the GOP gets much mileage from this anyway - Romney would rather it go away as well since he enacted the original "mandate/tax" himself. Too many issues in this country currently to get lost on one where there aren't clear answers or platforms out there....

That was kind of my thought since Romney was something of a pioneer on this. I'm not saying that's necessarily a good thing, just that Obama will have a difficult time distancing himself from Romney on this issue, and Romney can always say he was for it before he was against it. The irony is that the guy who had no experience going into the '08 campaign is going to deride Romney for his past business experience, but that's another thread. :coffee:

Beating of the dead horse to the point it has turned into jerky. Michelle Bachmann last night on Pierce Morgan made a complete ass of herself, her state, and her party shouting out over anybody who tried to question her about the act being "the largest tax increase in our nation's history" and that it has already driven UP the cost of health insurance, that people will no longer have "CHOICES" under the bill, and the final lie, that an overwhelming majority of Americans feel just as she does.

Top her all off with her screaming denials that Romney Care is anything like Obama Care, and that President Mitt Romney is going to revoke the Affordable Health Care Act on day one.

What a fucking retard, but apparently a great spokeswoman for today's Republican Party.

How does an individual who's ALREADY an ass proceed to MAKE an ass of herself?

Mitt the mutt's campaign will not distance themselves from her, just like they didn't distance themselves from Limbaugh's "slut" debacle, and Sanitorium Napkin's assault on women's health issues, etc.

Yes indeed Z, if he does not distance himself, he owns it.

Mitt Romney is the face of the Republican Party today, and that face includes Bachmann, and Limbaugh.

They don't move on. It's their M.O.

Overturning Obama's health care reform will still be a central part of their platform 50 years from now... just like overturning social secutiry, overturning Roe v. Wade, etc.

And blaming Bush will still be part of the donk platform 50 years from now. Because in the donk world, nothing is EVER their fault.

Well, Obama hasn't distanced himself from uber misogynist Bill Maher and he keeps cancers like Biden and Holder around.

If you want to get into a battle comparing the warts on the Donk side to the warts on the Conk side, you'll lose that battle every time.

Nah, it's 32 years later, and they're still too busy blaming Reagan. :coffee:

The one thing Obama wants to distance himself from right now is the economy.

I think the Romney camp is screwing the pooch right now because the way to attack Obamacare is by making it part of the larger narrative on how another cumbersome entitlement program enacted in the teeth of a recession is why Democrats are not fit or qualified to speak to national economic issues.

Exactly what policy are Limbaugh the entertainer and the failed presidential candidate Bachmann forming?

And don't think I didn't notice you conveniently leaving out the gaffemaster and the AG who was caught lying to Congress. In the grand scheme of things, Cid is right, Obama can run away from his economic failures.

I agree with the economy part, and maybe Mitt will go that way down the road - still early in the campaign. The only way Romney can beat Obama is if the economy continues to be poor, and there's little evidence today that we're headed for a big uptick in the economy (and there are warning signs that we're going the wrong way). Like I said before, Presidents in good economies don't lose reelection. If things stay the way we're going, Obama could be beatable and the health care, and the taxes/penalities/mandates associated with it could be logically argued as part of the reason for the economy. Where we are in September and October will tell if the health care will be something that decides this election or not.
