Thanks, Mr. President, but I'd prefer to have several place settings of silver, new furniture, and a hope chest.

He should make the same appeal to corporate mergers. On account of they're people and all.

Before you send any cash ask our self if any of his promises have come true or if he even tried.
He promised Americans jobs, smaller Government, transparency, lower unemployment, secure borders, a balanced budget paying down the deficit and unity.
Looks like 0 fer 8

Agreed.
Funny that the only people complaining about it are people that weren't gonna vote for him anyway.

Brilliant in what way? How much revenue do you think it will raise? I suspect very little. Will the value of the revenue be greater than the liability of the blowback that is already happening? I doubt it. Even the liberal blogs and message boards are already snarking about it.
Expect a "clarification" from the White House in the Monday news cycle.

Not at all, we're just mocking him.

Either way, you weren't going to vote for him.
I admit, the move seems tacky, but I doubt if it will hurt Obama, and it might help.
If it works then soon more politicians will be doing it. Will you mock a GOP candidate who tries the same thing?

I believe you. But I won't believe Baldy if he says yes.

Politics is about taking peoples money and getting re-elected.
What part am I missing...?

If you believe AZ, then it means that you've come to the understanding that your original statement was asinine.

It's a great idea. When someone you are not that fond of sends you an invitation to a wedding or something you can send a dollar to O'Bama rather than buying your acquaintance a crappy toaster or blender. A sound economic decision for you.

The undignified part. Begging for money is always undignified, but this takes it to a new low.

Reread the thread and try to comprehend.
My original statement was in regard to voting for Obama. My statement to AZ was is regard to his mocking a GOP candidate (besides AZ never complained

). Two totally different things.
The only thing asinine was your statement.

That doesn't mean that his supporters won't stoop to a new low to give him money. The easier he can make it for them to give money, the better for Obama, undignified or not.

I've read the thread. Once again, after someone points out an Obama "change", you jumped in with both feet to attempt to paint those people as partisan hacks. It's your shtick...own up to it.
Here, I'll repost your own words for you:
"Funny that the only people complaining about it are people that weren't gonna vote for him anyway."
"Complaining"...that was your choice of words. No one else in the thread used that word (you can go back and look it up). Obviously, you thought someone was "complaining" or you would not have brought it up. And then you decided that those "complaining" were "only" (your word, again) people who, according to you, were not going to vote for Obama anyway.
So, you were attacking the messengers (again, your thing) instead of comprehending the message.
Normal comprehension would lead to most people to understand that most posts were statements about the lack of dignity Obama displayed with his latest money grabbing effort. That is certainly not a partisan idea...as if anyone in the middle wouldn't shake their head in disbelief at the thought of a President asking people to donate to his campaign in lieu of a giving a gift on a special occasion to someone they know.
Then again, you might be part of that group of folks that puts, "Instead of gifts, please give us cash only" on their party invitations.

Okay, it's my schtick. I point out when a stepford-conk rears his head.
So far, the only people on here complaining about Obama's move weren't goona vote for him anyway.
But you called my asinine because I told AZ I believe him when he says he'd mock a GOP candidate for doing what Obama did.
The two statements have nothing to do with each other and are not mutually exclusive. Yet somehow you tried to use them in an argument.
I guess comparing apples and orange and looking asinine is your schtick.
Carry on.

This is pretty funny. What does he have to lose? A second term? That just means he has 4 less years before he gets that sweet retirement AND he can begin the inevitable memoir and speaking tour that will bring him millions.

Nothing says "America" more than spending a billion dollars for a $400K job with free room and board.
