Fox News Viewers Know Less Than People Who Don't Watch Any News: Study
Fox News viewers are less informed than people who don't watch any news, according to a new poll from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
The poll surveyed New Jersey residents about the uprisings in Egypt and the Middle East, and where they get their news sources. The study, which controlled for demographic factors like education and partisanship, found that "people who watch Fox News are 18-points less likely to know that Egyptians overthrew their government" and "6-points less likely to know that Syrians have not yet overthrown their government" compared to those who watch no news.
Overall, 53% of all respondents knew that Egyptians successfully overthrew Hosni Mubarak and 48% knew that Syrians have yet to overthrow their government.
Dan Cassino, a political science professor at Fairleigh Dickinson, explained in a statement, "Because of the controls for partisanship, we know these results are not just driven by Republicans or other groups being more likely to watch Fox News. Rather, the results show us that there is something about watching Fox News that leads people to do worse on these questions than those who don’t watch any news at all."
Didn't watch this, but got a kick out of the title..

People watch what they want to watch. Many people don't want to be informed as much as they want to be reinforced. They don't watch the news to get information, they watch it to be told what they want to hear.
Whether it's Fox News blasting everything donk, or MSNBC blasting everything conk. We're becoming a nation of stepford voters.

All you need to know about this "poll", not a study ( ), is that it claims that the Daily Show is a news source.

Baldy Isn't that what News is becoming..?
Entertainment
Rush Limbaugh is an Entertainer / News source also (Right..?)
Fox News executives themselves claim that over half their News Programming is entertainment
Like I said: Hollywood / Politics = Same Same Same this is the road we're waltzing down
All you need to know about this "poll", not a study ( ), is that it claims that the Daily Show is a news source.
And their source was people from New Jersey.

This!
Which is why the only MSNBC show I watch is Morning Joe which is center right (Baldy? ) featuring a former conk congressman and mostly corporatist media elites with the rare actual lib sprinkled in occasionally. A conservative show on left leaning network. How's that for balance?
It's all infotainment and not really news. Anybody looking for real, unbiased news should turn to the likes of Amy Goodman at Democracy Now, or the Daily Show and Colbert Report.

This pretty much sums it up for me too. Other than sports, I blearily watch/listen to Morning Joe when I wake up (as mentioned) and watch Game of Thrones. That's about it.

I think that we are reaching a critical mass in this country where a tv news outlet that has just news content without bias could probably carve off some viewership.
I watch Moyers on occasion. He's liberal, but you do get both sides from him, and there's little fluff. I think a neutral version of Moyers would get me on the boob tube more.
For now, I am getting used to being the last guy in the room to know about the latest sensationalized child abduction or who the Kochs/Soroses of the world are giving money to.
Also Sodomy

1) The irony of using a Simpsons image to illustrate your point is not lost on me!
2) But you could be right.
