89 Needs Your Help

Last week the benevolent, enlightened people's republic of Maryland progressively updated the tax code in order to install more speed cameras and cut larger checks to the teacher's unions, among other worthwhile budgetary line items. Retroactive to January 1 of this year,
The tax increase affects single-filers reporting income in excess of $100,000 and joint-filers reporting more than $150,000 in Maryland, the state with the nation’s highest per-capita income. Democratic lawmakers closed ranks behind Gov. Martin O’Malley (D), who argued that his administration needed more money to continue record spending on education.
Obviously this deeply impacts 89's ability to maintain his monthly dining requirement at Congressional, let alone properly tip the caddies (and don't even get him started on his kids' Ivy League college funds - it's looking more and more likely that they'll have to slum it at some rundown CAA institution). In response, I'd like to guage the interest of the CS community in helping 89 maintain his standard-issue Maryland middle class lifestyle - possibly by setting up a Paypal account that we can all donate to.

Or of course he could always cross the Potomac to the wild west frontier that is Virginia:
The legislation — passed by the Senate on Tuesday and the House on Wednesday — will also widen the income tax divide between Maryland and Virginia. Maryland’s new top state-local tax bracket will tie the District’s for fourth-highest in the nation, at 8.95 percent. Across the Potomac, the top rate in Virginia is 5.75 percent... Accountants said the difference routinely adds up to thousands of dollars a year on six-figure incomes.

Andy, you and the clan are always welcomed to move into my Virginia estate...

I know the commute to 'Balmer will suck, but it will get you out of the People's Republic of O'Malloyland...

Thanks for looking out for me Rob. I'm beyond fed up with O'bama, er... O'Malley. You should have heard me booing him on TV at the Preakness trophy presentation. I'm almost thinking about telling my son he can't go the high school he accepted because O'Bammey went there. :ohno:

BTW Ivy, don't think I haven't thought about that every day when I'm in Sussex.

My Dad went to Gonzaga for 3 years. Him and his best friend got in trouble and were given the option of repeating their Junior year or leaving the school. His friend chose to repeat, my Dad graduated from Carroll the next year.

To this day only my Dad and his friend know what they did.

And the Principle...unless they murdered him to keep things quiet.

And God.

And Santa Claus.

And the priest at the confessional.

And maybe a bartender or two.

Do you get confused by the term tax "return"?
