That's interesting... I think this, and the timing of the announcement, is more about his re-election chances- which he is obviously and with good reason worried about- than it is about his actual beliefs.

His "evolution" on the issue is right in line with the rest of America. I don't necessarily think its political posturing, albeit will end up benefiting him politically.

What sucks is now this is going to be a major campaign issue because he and Romney are so divergent on this issue, whereas he and McCain were not.

Its just going to skew the conversations onto something that our government shouldn't be involved in.

Of course he still views this as a matter left to the states - that worked well in NC, right?

And nothing about Federal recognition, so even in states where it is legal, you are still SOL when it comes to the Feds.
