Any idea if this will catch any sort of momentum? I doubt it. The position the catholic league seem to hold is that the Daily Show would not have done such things to other religions.....even though Jon Stewart is a Jew and makes fun of Judaism quite commonly almost. But that is just my opinion and I am not catholic, so I cannot speak for them.

I highly doubt Donahue will get Mormons, Muslims, and Jews to coordinate this. Religious people aren't even Stewart's audience.

If anything, Stewart's ratings will probably go up. People will want to know what has the catholic league angry.

This is a "who cares?" thing. Stewart is meaningless.

He's hilarious. He's not trying to be meaningful.

This thread will probably spur more interest than your Liberty "no one gives a flying fuck" speaker thread.

Stewart is somewhat relevant though

He can be funny every once in a while. For the most part, I just find him annoying and irrelevant. :coffee:

Is that what he's trying to do? He is a self appointed mouthpiece for the Catholic Church and has had success in the past by marshaling his minions to boycott advertisers, stations, etc. Hopefully Comedy Central tells him to fuck off and doesn't cave to this shit. There are groups around now that combat these stupid letter writing/email campaigns for the pussies that are easily offended.

People always ask who the Al Sharpton of white people is and although there really isn't one Donahue is the Al Sharp of the Catholic Church.

Stewart is a master of irreverence and hilarity. I don't think his cable ratings show him to be irrelevant however.

Hilarious? No. Not even close.

Mark Russell is hilarious, and he hits both sides, too.

Obviously comedy is a matter of taste. I think Stewart is hilarious, his ratings indicate that I am not alone. I agree that he hits the right more than the left, but he hits both sides. His favorite target may be Fox News, but CNN is not far behind.

Such a stupid cultural phenomenon that you have to decide who is funny now because of their fairness in joke telling. It's not like you are on a team SH and have to defend a...any politician or political propaganda machine.

:+1: except for the irrelevant part. He'd be irrelevant if people didn't watch him. But lots of douchebags watch him as their #1 source of " news."

No effect. Most Catholics in the United States aren't really Catholics anyway. They just call themselves that. Just going through the motions.

You are such a putz. For a non Catholic you sure speak with such authority. Tell me Mr Non Catholic, what percentage of American Catholics are you familiar with? I'm guessing .000000025%.

Let's see here....he tells doctors with medical degrees that they are wrong for not classifying homosexuality as a mental illness, he thinks all cops are bullies, and now he thinks that all Catholics are indeed not Catholic.

I can only conclude that he's either a sociopath or Jesus (due to his keen insight into the hearts of the people of the world and understanding of the threads of reality despite not having a degree in said subjects).

Seeing as I doubt Jesus would come back for round 3 (those darn Mormons are pushing it), I will assume he's the former rather than the latter.

He also thinks pedophilia is natural.

Bill Donohue, for lack of better terminology is a cunt.

Kissing, fondling, and staring at children in the shower isn't sexual abuse apparently. Fuck that dude. I hope Stewart says fuck you and moves on.

Stewart on apologizing : "I'm not going to censor myself to comfort your ignorance"

What a douche.

If he's not going to apologize, no big deal. But this quote makes it sound like he thinks he's some hero defending some sacred principle. He made a grammar school locker room comment that wasn't all that original or funny. Stewart needs to get over himself.

Precisely. And yet, most of his really funny stuff is very timely, and more unbiased that most of the news media (and I include FOX news when I say that).

To Stewart's credit, I think it was more of an attack on Donohue, seeing as it seems, historically speaking, that Donohue likes to fabricate controversy

Perhaps. Donohue likes to whine and push the boycott button, and is often incapable of distinguishing legitimate criticism from true hate speech. Not everyone who criticizes the Catholic Church is like D1B.

Still, the reference to ignorance -- as if sticking a nativity scene on a naked women's vagina is high-brow humor -- is, as his friend Colbert might say, emblematic of douche-iness.
