Yet it was no where near as disgraceful as what Preston Brooks did to Charles Sumner in 1856. :ohno:

Why not Bush held down the post for 8 yrs.The reason Rush wore the hoodie was to show solidarity with the slain Trayvon Martin and his family. He said in a interview he had a son that was gunned down in '99

Is this what your referring to http://www.senate.gov/artandhistory/his ... Sumner.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Brooks as the story goes was anti-slavery and Sumner was a good ole boy from the south Brooks wanted to give him a taste of his own medicine.

Was his son gunned down by a white...I mean Hispanic...security guard?

Frankly, I don't have any sympathy for Rush. Rush advocated violence...karma took care of his son. :thumb:

:ohno: You really need to learn how to read. Sumner was from the North, Brooks from South Carolina. Sumner had some scathing words for Brooks kin and fellow Congressman, Andrew Butler. Brooks was going to suggest a duel, but due to the derogatory comments Sumner made, he wasn't viewed as a gentleman. It's not excuse for violence, but it's the facts of the story.

And if you're not familiar with Rush's past, this from wiki:

"After dropping out of high school, Rush joined the U.S. Army in 1963 but went AWOL and received an honorable discharge in 1968.[2] Throughout the 1960s Rush was involved in the civil-rights movement. He worked in civil-disobedience campaigns in the South, and co-founded the Illinois chapter of the Black Panthers in 1968 and was made its "defense minister". His son, Huey, was named after Panther leader Huey Newton. "We were reacting to police brutality, to the historical relationship between African-Americans and recalcitrant racist whites," Rush later told People magazine. "We needed to arm ourselves." Rush was present when fellow Black Panther Fred Hampton was killed in a police raid and later made an official statement that the police, referred only to as "pigs" by Rush, had murdered Hampton. Rush's own apartment was raided in December 1969 where police discovered an unregistered pistol, rifle, shotgun and pistol ammunition, training manuals on explosives and booby traps, a small amount of marijuana and an assortment of communist literature.[3] Earlier that same year Rush stated the philosophy his membership in the Black Panthers saying, "Black people have been on the defensive for all these years. The trend now is not to wait to be attacked. We advocate offensive violence against the power structure."[4]
Imprisoned for six months in 1972 on a weapons charge after carrying a gun into a police station, Rush nonetheless worked on several non-violent projects that built support for the Black Panthers in African American communities.

Strom Thurmond was a well dresses pedophile who got a young black woman pregnant and denied that he was the father of Essie Mae-Washington Williams. If Thurmond is your type of congressman then you probably celebrated the death of Trayvon Martin.

Obama's lied several times during the SOU address...if the President can make a mockery of that nationally televised event, why do you want to prevent anyone else from joining in on the fun?

It's all theater, but I guess folks have different ideas of proper decorum.

What did Pres. Obama lie about in that SOU address? As many times Bush lied while in office no one ever called him a liar on the floors of Congress.
