In your honor, I think I might take a fishing trip out to Franklin Delano Roosevelt Lake tomorrow. It's a 140 mile long impoundment of the Columbia River that was created by the construction of the Grand Coulee Dam as part of the New Deal project. It has provided cheap electricity to the Pacific Northwest that gave rise to various industries including aerospace at the Boeing factory in Seattle. Another New Deal project made possible by this glorious lake and the dam was the Columbia Basin Reclamation Project that turned 100's of miles of arid land into the one of the most productive potato, wheat, lentil, and apple producing regions in the world.

Lake Roosevelt contains healthy populations of sturgeon, smallmouth bass, triploid rainbow trout, kokanee salmon, burbot, and walleye. It's also a mecca for waterfowl and deer hunting enthusiasts.

It could be argued that all cheap electricity from those dam projects constructed as part of the New Deal was a huge factor in the momentum swing the US provided to the war effort in WW2. Food for thought.
