The day Bush entered office US National Debt was 5.768 trillion. The day Bush left office National Debt was 10.626 trillion, an increase of 4.858 trillion.
If you want to check the accuracy of that, just do a web search "debt, 5.768, 10.626"

The day Obama entered office again US National Debt was 10.626 trillion. National debt as of right now stands at 15.504 trillion, trillion, an increase of 4.878 trillion.

Current national debt #s and a whole bunch of other interesting (and sobering) ones too.

That would include 3-4 years of yearly contributions (assuming you are making yearly contributions).

The Dow closed 8281 1/16/09, the last closing before Obama entered office. It closed today 13,194, an increase of 59%. over about 3.2 years, an avg annual increase of about 15%, certainly very good (and about the only good piece of economic news under Obama) but certainly no where near 200%.

It isn't Obama or a really good fund manager. It's bullshit. As BDKJMU pointed out, the market is up less than 60% during that time. It is nearly impossible (unless you're Bernie Madoff) to beat the indexes by more than 3x. Either you he can't do simple math, is taking an incredible amount of risk or he's just lying.

The gains that have actually been realized in the stock market are attributable to a grossly distorted credit/bond market, overseas money from depressed or recessionary economies and the gold bubble. The market is simply overvalued based on historical p/e ratios and corporate debt levels. Investors are being forced to take extreme risk just to try to keep up with commodity inflation.

On the other hand, the price of gasoline is up over 100% since Obama took the oath of office, but that's Wall Street's fault.
