The Michelle Bachman Bridge to Wisconsin

It's about time to get this thing built. Right now 18,000 people are crossing a small outdated lift-bridge between Minnesota & Wisconsin. There are 4 lane highways leading to this bridge on both sides of the border. Now that the Enviro-wackism is out of the way, let the bridge begin. It is endorsed by Senators Klobuchar (D) and Franken (D), and Rep Bachmann, but not Reps McCullom (D) or Ellison (D).

Governors urge Obama to sign Stillwater bridge bill
March 6, 2012
STILLWATER, Minn. (AP) — The governors of Minnesota and Wisconsin have written a joint letter to President Obama urging him to quickly sign the legislation that clears the way for a new bridge over the St. Croix River.
In a letter dated Tuesday, Republican Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin and DFL Gov. Mark Dayton of Minnesota say the two states have been working for decades to replace the current bridge, built in 1931.
An exemption from the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act passed the U.S. Senate in January and the House last week. That legislation was needed to advance the project.
An updated estimate from the Minnesota Department of Transportation pegs the project's cost at about $626 million - down from an earlier projection of $633 million. With the president's signature, construction of the bridge could start in 2014.

Hey Breeders, quit having fucking kids and we won't have these problems.
We don't need a new bridge. We need proper sex education in schools, taxing of the catholic church and limits on the number of kids per family.
Planet cant handle all your little brats.

Well, I think we need a new bridge. The metro area is bulging at the border and, like it or not, it's positive infrastructure. Note, too, that one of the finest Senators in America, Democrat Amy Klobuchar is jointly behind it.

Hey northerners - pay for your own damn bridge
And Gil - shame on the environmentalists from actually trying to have MNDOT and WIDOT follow the FUCKING LAW, and protect a valuable resource.

Well, two things, Jon.
First, neither state has the resources to pay for this, not even in combination. It also underscores a great vicious-cycle Conkunist problem in which, though the federal govt has massive revenue raising powers, their desired cuts to states have pushed them to this. Then, as a result, Conks will go on and on, using this as an example of "frivolous" spending, neve3rmind the increased revenues projects such as this will realize. Again, Conks want cuts, but fail to consider the short, mid and long term consequences of such.
Second, the bridge is over the St. Croix River and is smack dab right in the middle of the St. Croix River National Scenic Waterway, a huge recreation resource for the nation, not to mention the source of electricity for much of the area. So, it's disappointing to see Gil DopeAddict besmirch people and agencies, govt and NGO, who work so hard to ensure that this jewel in the upper Midwest is not the Cuyahoga River of the north woods.
Conks.
In further regard to northerners paying for their own bridge, Cap'n Cat is proud to say that he supports any similar such efforts in the Southwest which accomplish the same admirable goals. Cap'n Cat would never say, "Hey, desert people, hands off the Colorado River".......much as he'd like to.
STX National Scenic Waterway:
The old bridge in question:
Where Cappy and D1B fish the STX, Prescott, WI, where it meets the Mississippi. Notice the brown water of the Mississippi running in from the west right before it all turns to the south. Gil, pretty good by the enviro-whackos protecting the STX, after all, eh?

Maybe they'd get Ellison's support if you could rotate the bridge to face Mecca.

There is a difference between enviro-wacko's and environmentalist as myself. The Wacko's, like D1b, do not want this bridge, the environmentalists want a safe, environmental friendly bridge as you have shown with the Prescott bridge.

So then why did the lower mpact, less costly bridge design that environmentalists favored get rejected?

If you are going to quote me, use the words I use. I have no problem with environmentalist, it's the enviro-wackos that waste a lot of time and money.

See my above post - it seems that you call anyone that doesn't agree with your vision a wacko (Shut-up, peanut gallery)

No, I'm not like you, just calling a wacko a wacko.

IT,
Ever heard Ellison speak or read what he has written? He's as "American" as they come, even by Conk standards. Not Rush standards, but, normal Conk standards.

He's just another liberal Donk in my book. I don't care about his religious views.

Will you stop that race-baiting shit, Cat? You think you have the right to throw the N-word around with impunity because you're an Olbermann/Garofalo-loving libtard.

I dislike Ellison on the basis of his policies, period. Same as Obummer, Reid and Pelosi.

Nope. You hate him because he's black and Muslim and you know it.
The guy is a terrific representative.

Come back when you have something intelligent to say. You just love him, my melanin-deprived friend, because he led an attempt to impeach Cheney.

Believe it or not, but I've actually been on that bridge.
