We're in better shape now than we were when Reagan took office. I kid you not. I'm not going to say we can say Reagan was responsible for getting us out of it but that was the worst situation we were in in my lifetime. We had unbelievably high interest rates and inflation. Things were really crashing. We had been in a long term conflict with the Soviet Union and the Soviet Union was winning. Our military was screwing up just about every time it tried anything. It was bad. Really bad. In 1980 the inflation rate was 13.5%. The prime interest rate was 20% in 1981.I agree, IT. When he started with that stuff, I got a shiver in my spine. No one alive can change America. Reagan failed, too, because if he succeeded, we'd be in much better shape now.
Yep. Because a Republican was in office in 08' it was the myth of it being the worst since the Great Depression. It's not as bad now. And it wasn't as bad in 2008 either. People who think that what happened in 2008 and what's happening now is the "worst it's been since the great depression" just aren't old enough or they just weren't paying attention during the late 70s and early 80s.
