Afghans Vent Fury Outside US Base Over Quran Burning

KABUL, Afghanistan --
Thousands of angry Afghans protested outside a U.S. military base on Tuesday, some hurling rocks and firing guns in the air, after reports surfaced that American troops had burned of copies of the Quran and other religious items.
The demonstrators — shouting "Die, die, foreigners!" — gathered outside Bagram airbase, an hour's drive north of the capital Kabul. Photographs taken by the AFP news agency outside the airbase, showed people firing slingshots and others holding charred copies of the Quran, Islam's holy book.
"The people are very angry. The mood is very negative," said Zia Ul Rahman, deputy provincial police chief. "Some are firing hunting guns in the air, but there have been no casualties."
"We Afghans don't want these Christians and infidels, they are the enemy of our soil, our honor and our Quran," said Haji Shirin, one of the protesters.
"I urge all Muslims to sacrifice themselves in order to pull out these troops from this soil."

I hope that they all die from the plague and become one with the dusty sands again. I feel the same way about Evangelicals in this country.

Those people would have every right to protest the koran burnings.........................if they were legal US citizens.
Right now they can just fu*k off and deal with it!

Screw the Afghans...let them rot in their own stupidity.
They want "their" land free of Christian and Western influence? Fine. Let's get the f*ck out of there and let them enjoy their primative lifestyle.
But, if they intend on exporting their Musiln and Eastern influence in the form of religion, opium, goat's milk, or anything else, then we bomb the crap out of anything leaving their borders.

KABUL, Afghanistan - Muslim holy books that were burned in a pile of garbage at a U.S. military base in Afghanistan had been removed from a library at a nearby detention center because they contained extremist messages or inscriptions, a western military official said Tuesday.
The military official with knowledge of the incident said it appeared that the Qurans (Korans) and other Islamic readings were being used to fuel extremism, and that detainees at Parwan Detention Facility were writing on the documents to exchange extremist messages.
He spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the incident.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The White House is apologizing for the burning of Muslim holy books in a pile of garbage at a U.S. military base in Afghanistan.
Press secretary Jay Carney says it's a "deeply unfortunate incident" and doesn't reflect the respect the U.S. military has for the religious practices of the Afghan people.

The hell with Afghanistan..the sooner we get out of there the better. The Taliban will be back - that's not really a question. IMO we just abuse those people - use Afghanistan as a weapons testing area - need a target - take your pick.
And as far as the burning of the Quran or the Koran or however you spell it - big f'in deal. So when a Christian gets beat or killed over there or someone burns the Bible we don't get all up in protest. Have Obama send them a planeload of contraceptives so there are fewer of them to f with down the road.

"A NATO soldier killing innocent people is far more painful than the burning of a Quran. I would rather they burn 100 Qurans than to hurt one woman or man or child."
