GObama!!!!!
"Caterpillar Inc. has Georgia on its mind for its newest manufacturing plant.
Caterpillar selected land near Athens, Ga., as the location for a new facility that will build small track-type tractors and mini hydraulic excavators, officials announced at a news conference Friday in Atlanta.
The new, 1 million-square-foot facility is expected to employ 1,400 people once fully operational. The total investment for opening the facility will be about $200 million.
Caterpillar plans to break ground on the new facility this spring, with initial production expected to begin in late 2013.
In addition to those employed in the new plant, Caterpillar estimates another 2,800 full-time jobs will be created across the country among suppliers and at other companies that support the new facility.
"I am thrilled to be in Georgia today to announce that Athens will be the newest city to be home to a Caterpillar production facility. We are even more excited that this project will create more than 4,200 jobs in the United States," said Caterpillar Chairman and CEO Doug Oberhelman."

And hopefully we don't stop this because they won't be union jobs.

Yep politicians like Obama and his progressive friends in Illinois are responsible for companies leaving the high tax states for heaven forbid a right to work state.
Georgia is definitely thanking the Obama type politicians
From the comments on the news story
Dear Illinois. You can thank your State Government for it`s anti-business climate with higher taxes and your love for unions for the loss of jobs to Georgia. First up was NCR, the famed, 125-year-old cash register company that moved its headquarters from Dayton, Ohio, to Duluth, Georgia last June.
Then came Fischbein, which announced in July that Suwanee, Georgia not Cleveland, would be the site for a new production line.
Finally, earlier this month, aluminum can maker Novelis quit Cleveland and moved its North American headquarters to Buckhead, Georgia
For those keeping score: Atlanta 3, Ohio 0.
And thats just in the last eight months.
Poaching business from the Rust Belt isnt a new phenomenon. Midwest companies have been heading to the Sun Belt for decades to take advantage of balmy weather, tax breaks and non-union workers.
But the quantity, and quality, of the relocations augurs well for Atlanta. NCR, Novelis and Newell Rubbermaid moved headquarters and hundreds of well-paid, white-collar jobs from the Midwest to Atlanta, burnishing the citys reputation as a corporate magnet.
In all, 43 Midwestern companies have established headquarters, warehouses, distribution centers, factories, branch offices or testing labs across the region since 1999, according to the Metro Atlanta Chamber. Ohio alone has shipped 20 of those companies or their units down Interstate 75. Only three other states -- California, Florida and Texas -- have been more generous toward Atlanta.
We look forward to Caterpillar moving all it`s manufacturing to Georgia in the future.
Thanks,
Georgia.

Only in a lonely, blighted, flag-draped, moldy Conk basement in a rundown cabin in Montana can the notion of 4200 manufacturing and support jobs be so wholly negative.

The South is turning toward Obama and away from "the Mormon". I knew that devout Christianity would help out the Democrats someday.

Sears and CME Group threaten to leave Illinois
CNNMoney ^ | Dec. 06 ,2011 | Charles Riley
Without a fresh round of tax incentives, two iconic Illinois companies might soon be on the move. The companies -- Sears Holdings and CME Group -- are the latest in a series of Illinois firms to threaten departure after the state temporarily raised corporate taxes earlier this year. Sears Holdings, which has 6,100 employees at its corporate headquarters and operates both K-Mart and Sears stores, is looking for its current package of tax incentives to be extended. ... The stakes are high. Earlier this year, Caterpillar threatened to leave Illinois, an announcement that sparked something of a relocation competition among...
Caterpillar will build new plant outside Illinois due to negative business climate

Caterpillar has ruled out building a planned new plant in Illinois due to the negative business climate, via AP:
“Please understand that even if your community had the right logistics for this project, Caterpillar’s previously documented concerns about the business climate and overall fiscal health of the state of Illinois still would have made it unpractical for us to select your community for this project,” the email, a copy of which was obtained by The Associated Press, says.
Caterpillar CEO Doug Oberhelman last year complained to Gov. Pat Quinn about the state’s business climate after Illinois raised income taxes. Oberhelman noted that Caterpillar is regularly courted by other states trying to lure away the company’s headquarters, though he later said the company has no plans to leave.

Obama Said His Stimulus Would Bring Caterpillar Jobs Back to Illinois

In February 2009 President Obama told Americans that Caterpillar would be able to rehire some of the employees in Illinois who were just laid off. Caterpillar CEO Jim Owens immediately refuted the claim.

I love it when a bunch of whiny, 30-minute coffee break Yankee union sympathizers cheer for the opening of yet another heavy manufacturing plant in the Deep South.
It just proves the complete and total ignorance beyond a shadow of a doubt.
Enjoy your Rust Belt, boys.... in 50 years all the trailer parks and Appalachians will be in IL, NY, WI, MI, and yes, IA.
