Brilliant and Smoking Hot. Conks have that idiot Sarah Palin, we have Rachel Maddow.

I hope she runs for president some day.
Author and The Rachel Maddow Show host Rachel Maddow has won the John Steinbeck Award.

Previous recipients included Joan Baez, Bruce Springsteen, Arthur Miller, Studs Terkel and Garrison Keillor. Maddow is the third woman to receive the prestigious award and the first recipient under the age of 40.

Thomas Steinbeck, son of the great John Steinbeck, had this statement in the release: “My father would have adored Rachel Maddow … Listening to Rachel Maddow is like listening to Walter Cronkite. We have that kind of trust in her. When I watch Rachel Maddow, I feel like I’m part of an alliance. I hope she’s in it for the long haul, because we really need her.”

Here’s more about the award: “The Center for Steinbeck Studies was authorized by the Steinbeck estate to present awards to artists, activists, and those whose work exemplifies the themes and values found in the writings of John Steinbeck: in particular, his concern for the natural environment, his commitment to the common people, and his willingness to critique the contrasts between the powerful and the poor.”

What is that, some sort of look-a-like award?

Steinbeck has always been one of my favorite authors...who understood suffering and the foible of pride.

He'd be drowning his sorrow knowing some self-absorbed limousine liberal was receiving accolades attached to his name.

So what we've learned from this thread is D1B likes gay women - thus he doesn't get any - and he acts out on message boards from sexual frustration.

Now it all makes sense. :thumb:  :thumb:  :thumb:  :thumb:  :thumb:  :thumb:

Listening to Rachel Maddow is like listening to Walter Cronkite. We have that kind of trust in her.
For PETE'S sake! I am no fan of Walter Cronkite. My opinion is that the trust people had in him was sorely misplaced. But c'mon.

My opinion is that Rachael Maddow is a misleading, out of context information bit per minute because I've watched her and noted how misleading she is. But I am not prepared to offer specifics now so I'll understand if you don't believe me.

Maybe at some point I'll sit down with a notepad, watch one of her shows, and document it. I think she's probably pretty smart but I also think there's not an intellectually honest bone in her body.

LOL at the Cronkite Maddow comparison.

I did not care for Cronkite's politics at all, but I do think he had a little sense of intellectual courage, and his convictions were shaped through his own experiences. I personally would have taken different lessons from those experiences, but at least the guys was honest; someone you could agree to disagree with. He was also a an old school journalist, who believed in 90% reporting and 10% opinion. You would never see Cronkite opposing one political leader or another simply because of the (R) or the (D) behind their names.

Maddow, on the other hand, is pandering to the coffeehouse elites, and is intentionally contributing to the polarization in this country. She is no different from that clown on FOX news who like to chase the tail (I cant remember his name off the top of my head).

Anyone who places any faith or has any admiration for ANYONE in television talk radio (and that's exactly what it is) needs to have their heads checked, or at least stop spending so much time out in the cold weather up there in Buffalo A$$ Iowa-Minnesota-Wisconsin-Nebraskastan. You're part of the problem.

Name one lie.
As I said, since I am not prepared to do that right now I understand if one doesn't believe me. All I remember is noting the pattern. I do not remember specifics. I would have to actually, as I said, watch her program and make notes. Whether it's important enough to me for you and others on a message board to believe me or not when it comes to the proposition that Dr. Maddow is misleading for me to actually do that is open to question.

I used to listen to her radio show all the time and also watch at least portions of her program on a regular basis. But it's been a while.

There are many but since you live in the little sister of the great state of Minnesota here is a Wisconsin lie that she was telling
Rachel Maddow says Wisconsin is on track to have a budget surplus this year (PolitiFact: False)
PolitiFact.com ^ | 2/18/2011 | Dave Umhoefer, PolitiFact

It has taken hold with conviction: the idea that Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker ginned up a phony budget crisis to justify his bold bid to strip state employees of most bargaining rights and cut their benefits.

A volley of e-mails, blog posts and inquiries to reporters followed a Madison Capital Times editorial on Feb. 16, 2011, that said no state budget deficit exists for 2010-’11 -- or if it does, it’s the fault of Walker and the Republicans in the Legislature.

Liberal MSNBC talk show host Rachel Maddow joined in Feb. 17, accusing Walker of manipulating the situation for political gain.

"Despite what you may have heard about Wisconsin’s finances, the state is on track to have a budget surplus this year," she said. "I am not kidding."

WI Gov.-elect Scott Walker to inherit projected $3.3 billion budget deficit
Madison Examiner ^ | 11/24/2010 | Paul Neuberger

Wisconsin Gov.-elect Scott Walker was the recipient of the unwelcome news that he will be inheriting a projected budget deficit as high as $3.3 billion over the next two years. Last week, the Wisconsin Department of Administration (DOA) published a report announcing there would be a $1.5 billion gap between state revenue and state spending through June 30, 2013. It appears that the news is much grimmer than that, however.

Speaking of Palin and Maddow

You should google the story she was telling on her TV show that Palin was going to lead an attack on Egypt.

That was a good one
