She should indeed be deported.

This thing about priorities is a canard. It's an excuse for pandering to the hispanic voting block. If you're not in the US legally and government finds out then you should be sent out of the US. Period. End of story. Tragic stories should make no difference.

I've stated before that some cases should supersede the law of a land and I think this is one of 'em. Yes, we're Americans and people should follow the rules set-up here, but we're also humans and intrinsic values such as compassion are very much an integral foundation of this country. The girl was two when she came over and had no choice; for all we know, she might have thought she was a citizen. I'd be fine with sending her back to Brazil if she was being sent with her family, but she has no real support system to go to over there to after this tragedy.

I don't want the US to send a message that illegal children will be tolerated in the US, but extreme occurrences such as this one do merit an exception to the law. Being stern is good, but we can't lose our humanity in the process.

The Carmo family was in the United States illegally," said Alonso Oliveira, a family friend and pastor. "The family wanted to obtain legal status but had no laws to help them do so."
:? :? :? :?

The churches need people to contribute money. Just like politicians, they don't care where the money comes from. In fact, this guy was a pastor...they believe they are above the law. Governor uses the accident as a photo op.

Questions:

1) Does the state of Florida offer to pay to medical expenses to all accident victims and to cover the cost to ship all accident victims back to their home towns?
2) Immediate family died, but not all of her family. What is that status of the rest of her family?
3) WTH does, "The Carmo family was in the United States illegally," said Alonso Oliveira, a family friend and pastor. "The family wanted to obtain legal status but had no laws to help them do so."' mean?

It means "instant amnesty with having to do nothing to get it" isn't a law yet

I had the illegal immigration debate put to me like this once:
If you were sleeping in your house and woke to a noise and upon discovering someone in the house who was eating your food, peeing in your toilet, and demanding YOU pay him for being there, what would you do?

If you were Alphagrizz you drive him across town.........

Am I the only person who sees how absolutely ridiculous the above statement is?

SMFH.

It should not be automatic, but I agree that illegal aliens who were minors without a choice at the time of arrival should be allowed to present their case for legal status (NOT citizenship) if they desire to do so.

THat would require a major change to our immigration law, because LPR status, by law, gives you the automatic opportunity to naturalize after jumping through a few simple hoops. That law will never be changed, because it would (ostensibly) provide a pathway to denying citizenship to people who have attined LPR status legally (the slippery slope).

Is this before or after they were hired to do the landscaping, cleaning, gardening, and other services in and around the house?
