Presidential Election 2012 predictions.

It's never too early. Personally, I think if Romney wins this weekend, he's pretty much sealed it because A) Ron Paul won't win the nomination B) I doubt Santorum has enough $$$ to stay in the race, if that's the case and C) Perry is supposedly trailing Romney and Gingrich in his own state.

Personally, I think Gingrich and Romney are the best, most electable candidates out of the current field. You could only go up from how McCain performed in '08. If the economy is still down by the time whomever raps up the nomination does so, Obama could be in trouble. The current state of affairs are quite poor to say the least, if the economy doesn't improve Obama will be a president of empty promises as the "it could be worse" and "long term growth" arguments aren't going to be appealing to the unemployed. I consider myself a moderate, and domestically I don't think there's much that Obama's done to improve much. Not to say he hasn't tried or debate his philosophy, but the results just aren't there.

If Romney keeps it moderate, doesn't mess up a VP pick, and is careful with his attacks, we could have different president around this time next year. The fact that he's somewhat of a moderate (and a flip flop) from New England plays into his favor. Romneycare could kill him though.

thoughts?

Romney could win vs Obama if he runs a decent campaign. That said I could see him pulling a John Kerry and end up losing to a weak president.

His VP pick will be very important, he needs to find somebody that conservatives will like but isn't a far right nut job.

my guess would be Gingrich or Pawlenty, I could see him going for Santorum, but I doubt it.

Did I say Romney? with Perry dropping out, I'm going to say Gingrich will win SC and Texas........gaining momentum, and ultimately winning the nomination

I called it Saturday that huntsman, perry and Paul will drop out by this Sunday. So far I'm right. I think Newt will take SC, him and Mitt will fight for a while, Rick will be gone after Super Tuesday if not before.

I'd be shocked if Paul drops out by Sunday. The man had his own convention in 2008 when he had a lot less delegates than he does now. You could be right, but I see Paul staying in as long as possible to rack up as many delegates as he can to try to change the platform at the convention.

Santorum out by Super Tuesday? I just heard on the radio today that a recount gave NH to Santorum. He's got to be on a roll by now.

Well you will be right on 2 of the 3. Paul is bypassing SC and trying his hand in later caucus states. He isn't going anywhere.

Newt won Iowa. Now we have a different winner in the first three contests. Things are about to get extremely dirty in Florida.

Go Ron Paul! :thumb:

why are we going with percentages, especially for the main parties? Al Gore would have won then. The real question is, where will the swing states go to? How does either get to 270 electoral votes?

And if Paul runs as an independent, what should the over/under line be for percentage?

Ron Paul will not run as an independent. The continuation of his run is more about setting his son Rand up for a run someday. If Ron runs as an independent it screws Rand. :twocents:
