How can he possibly beat O'bama? Just based on name alone.
Regardless of what he says, how can he over come this?

No doubt Newt is the smartest one of the bunch. Bad thing is he is an insider just like the others. Nothing will change no matter which one is elected.

Gotta love a guy who left his first wife while she was recovering from cancer surgery. He left his second because he was having an affair with his third. All the while he was trying to force President Clinton from office for a lapse in what he called 'family values'. Do enjoy your flavor of the month.

You're so full of it. From what I've read of his 1st marriage, donks like you like to spin this myth Gingrich visited his 1st ex while she was in the hospital recovering from cancer surgery to discuss the details of their divorce. Gingrich's daughter has written that it was her mother who requested the divorce, that it happened prior to the hospital stay, which was a surgery for the removal of a benign tumor, not cancer, and that Gingrich’s visit was for the purpose of bringing his children to see their mother, not to discuss the divorce.

The 2nd wife he did cheat on and and later filed for divorce.

I actually checked out his campaign website and read his solutions on economics. There were 9 points. In summary, cut taxes, cut more taxes, Reagan, deregulation, cut taxes. Not necessarily in that order.

Re-tread offering nothing new. :coffee:

Well let's be honest, is there anybody running for the GOP that has a different strategy?

Tax cuts lower the debt, increase growth, cure aids, and prevent global warming, duh.

Interestingly enough, not everybody is for them.
Millionaires Support Warren Buffett’s Tax on the Rich

By Robert Frank.

A new survey from Spectrem Group found that 68% of millionaires (those with investments of $1 million or more)  support raising taxes on those with $1 million or more in income. Fully 61% of those with net worths of $5 million or more support the tax on million-plus earners.

Buffett, as you might recall, has proposed raising taxes on million-plus earners, saying the ultra-rich pay lower rates than everyday workers.

Rich people’s opinions of Buffett remain fairly positive in the wake of his tax-me-more crusade. More than a third of millionaires and ultra-high-net-worths said they have a more positive opinion of Buffett after his tax proposal. Only 19% of millionaires and 22% of the $5 million -plus group said they had a more negative opinion of him after the proposal.

More than 40% of both groups said their opinion hadn’t changed.

In other words, Buffett’s proposal had more supporters than detractors among the rich — though that support declines slightly as you move up the wealth ladder.

Explains George Walper of Spectrem: “What this tells us is that there are a number of wealthy folks who said: ‘Gee, we need to increase taxes to stimulate the economy. No one likes to be taxed more, but the reality is maybe it has to be done.’ ”

We elected a muslim who open cavorted with known American terrorists, has questionable US citizenship, has questional sexual orientation and is owned by the Chicago political machine. I don't think a little thing like marital infidelity is gonna kill Newt.

It's easy to be for that. People with $1 million in investments support raising taxes on people with $1 million or more in income. If you take the value of my in-laws farmland they are millionaires but their income is no where near a million.

Gingrich Said to Be Paid $1.6M by Freddie Mac

By Clea Benson and Dawn Kopecki - Nov 15, 2011 9:01 PM PT

Newt Gingrich made between $1.6 million and $1.8 million in consulting fees from two contracts with mortgage company Freddie Mac, according to two people familiar with the arrangement.
The total amount is significantly larger than the $300,000 payment from Freddie Mac that Gingrich was asked about during a Republican presidential debate on Nov. 9 sponsored by CNBC, and more than was disclosed in the middle of congressional investigations into the housing industry collapse.
Gingrich’s business relationship with Freddie Mac spanned a period of eight years. When asked at the debate what he did to earn a $300,000 payment in 2006, the former speaker said he “offered them advice on precisely what they didn’t do,” and warned the company that its lending practices were “insane.” Former Freddie Mac executives who worked with Gingrich dispute that account.
Gingrich’s first contract with the mortgage lender was in 1999, five months after he resigned from Congress and as House speaker, according to a Freddie Mac press release.
His primary contact inside the organization was Mitchell Delk, Freddie Mac’s chief lobbyist, and he was paid a self- renewing, monthly retainer of $25,000 to $30,000 between May 1999 until 2002, according to three people familiar with aspects of the business agreement.
During that period, Gingrich consulted with Freddie Mac executives on a program to expand home ownership, an idea Delk said he pitched to President George W. Bush’s White House.

Interesting. Of course he's denying it. In any event, I think it was really nice of him to help them out. :thumb:
