There's a HUGE difference between an honorable burning of a worn-out or damaged flag and burning one IN PUBLIC as a condemnation of the country. It's the difference between a funeral pyre and getting on the wrong side of Torquemada.

...the comparison is between a mentally deranged jackoff burning the American flag as a hateful act of anti-America revolt, and a child flying the American flag on the back of his bicycle, who's then threatened with expulsion from school if he continues to display the flag.

And, btw...kneecapping is more greaseball than IRA.

While I really hate to say it is a protected act to burn the flag, I reserve my right to go to jail for giving said person a butt stroke to the groin for such acts.

BTW, Kalm...I watched the original news interview with the Principal who stated (paraphrasing), "...we have rules...and students who cannot abide by the rules will be disciplined and expelled if necessary."

Within 24 hours, the Principal (along with the District Superintendent) publicly retracted that statement and allowed
the boy to fly the flag on his bicycle.

I remember that as well. I think he was wearing an American flag shirt to a predominately hispanic school on Cinco de Mayo.....which, while controversial like burning a flag, is well within his rights. The school was wrong for trying to discipline him while allowing hispanic students to wear clothing displaying the Mexican flag....you guys really live in a fokked up state....
