Um, pretty sure Democrats took over Congress in 2006... not 2008.

Also, the only number I checked out was the 2009 deficit... which was 1.4 trillion... not the ~1.85 trillion it shows on the chart.

Actually they weren't sworn in until 2007 and had nothing to do with the FY2007 budget. Their first budget was FY2008.

No, believe it or not, gas was under $1.50 in Dec 2008. I know this because I am a pathetic data-dink who keeps a spreadsheet of my fill-ups. I filled up for $1.479/gallon in Dec 08.
