"Someone told me that last year that North Dakota was the only nation that actually was running a surplus. And it's because they're utilizing their natural energy resources," Bachmann added.
Easy mistake, but as the article continues she doesn't verify her facts. Just because you heard it doesn't make it true. I heard Lacrosse Players are rich, white Northerners.

Btw, Congrats on the states that have surpluses, Including Montana. Seriously, what the fuck is there in Montana to spend money on? :coffee: :thumb:

Gotta give it to Bachmann here... Technically she could be correct:

I don't think Bachmann was talking to this development.

It is like third biggest state with thousands of miles of roads between towns spread out all over the place. Population has only recently reached one million, and vast amounts of its lands are state and federal lands that generate no tax revenue. Montana has only turned the corner on its finances in the last few years as they work to get around all the obstacles in developing their natural resources, mostly coal and natural gas. Their school systems are nearly broke, and a lot of that road mileage is in horrible repair. They can spend every dime they have and probably not get it all caught up.

North Dakota and Wyoming are rich states. Wyoming has built new schools all over the state, three of them in my little town in just the last 6 or 7 years, our roads are in excellent condition, our teachers are among the highest paid in the nation, water, sewer and emergency services needs are eligible for 50% grants from a fund that comes just from the interest earned from the state's mineral trust fund. We built a brand new state of the art fire station with their grant money, as well as adding a new fire apparatus about every three years again with matching grants from the states.

The State of Wyoming is the largest employer in the state, and we are overwhelming Republican.

Michelle Bachmann would be welcome to suck dicks almost anywhere in our fine state.

meh - this seems more like misspeaking than her normal "divorced from reality" bullshit...
