The U.S. economy is staring down another recession, according to a forecast from the Economic Cycle Research Institute.

"It's either just begun, or it's right in front of us," said Lakshman Achuthan, the managing director of ECRI. "But at this point that's a detail. The critical news is there's no turning back. We are going to have a new recession."

The ECRI produces widely-followed leading indicators which predict when the economy is moving between recession and expansion. Achuthan said all those indicators are now pointing to a new economic downturn in the immediate future.
If it happens, will Obama survive it despite the weak crop of candidates fielded by the GOP? Will this be an indictment of the GOP House majority and the Tea Party?

G8,
I think Obama survives, but it may be for the same reason that W survived in '04, no one wanted to change horses midstream, because of the wars. Obama has presented sh*t to Congress, but Conks are playing politics and dragging us all down.

Honestly, there ain't no one around who can pull us out of this downward spiral, Conk or Donk. It is a different country than it was 20 or 30 years ago. Conks need to recognize that we are no longer the world's end-all, be-all in productivity. We are the new Great Britain, similar decline to follow. My advice to kids these days - learn Chinese and Russian.
