Great move. Looks like the chances of the international court taking this on are slim, but the strategy of shaming national courts for protecting high ranking catholic criminals is strong.
AP)
THE HAGUE, Netherlands - Clergy sex abuse victims upset that no high-ranking Roman Catholic leaders have been prosecuted for sheltering guilty priests have turned to the International Criminal Court, seeking an investigation of the pope and top Vatican cardinals for possible crimes against humanity.
This is as ludicrous as when dopes like Hitchens and Dawkins threatened to sign an arrest warrant against the pope when he visited England last year.
Just because a propaganda group like SNAP, which is nothing more than a litigation front for Jeffrey Anderson, Inc., files charges doesn't mean the Hague will do anything about it.
What this actually shows is that, as more US courts continue to reject the claim that the Vatican orchestrated a world-wide system of abuse, those with a financial interest in this litigation are getting more desperate.

Ludicrous to apologists like you, but not to the thousands upon thousands of children who have been molested by your priests, who were protected by your bishops, cardinals and popes.
Courts are not rejecting the claim that the Vatican fostered an environment conducive to massive child molestation. This is pretty much common knowledge. Us courts reject the case, because there is nothing they can do about it, because the Vatican hides behind bullshit soveirngty laws, statute of limitations, diplomatic immunity and whatever else their million dollar lawyers can come up with.
The vatican is untouchable, but this does not mean that it did not run a pedophile factory for centuries.
The subject of this thread is a response born of frustration on the part of the victims and victim rights groups. I agree, nothing will come of it, but the message is valid.

This "no one will do anything about it because they afraid of the Catholic Church" shtick is ridiculous.
Culpable American dioceses have been ordered by the courts to pay billions in compensation because of accusations which have been provable. When there is proof of wrongdoing, the American courts have provided relief.
The reason American courts have giving no redress to these claims to implicate the Vatican itself is because the claims are empty.
What is really going on is that the attorneys have mined all the valuable claims, but still want more money, and so now they are trying to hit up the Vatican instead of the dioceses. And they are getting nowhere because they have empty proofs. So publicity stunts like this are now the norm.

I remember not too long ago, catholic apologists were claiming the church pedophile crisis was solely an American issue. Jesus, just got done perusing some articles and major scandals have or are breaking out in Canada, Ireland, Switzerland, Germany, England, New Zealand, Brazil, Australia, France and Belgium.
One in Amsterdam particularly heinous:
9/15/2011 AMSTERDAM — A Dutch newspaper reports that the dean who took over a Catholic institute for mentally handicapped youths after 34 boys mysteriously died there in the 1950s was himself later convicted of molesting boys.
De Limburger newspaper said Saturday it has obtained Victor Tilleman’s 1967 appeals conviction for multiple cases of “sexual abuse of a minor entrusted to his care.” Tilleman died in 1980.
Tilleman arrived at St. Joseph’s institute in the southern town of Heel in 1954, after a three-year period in which deaths there had skyrocketed. Former nurses at the school say an unidentified Catholic brother left under a cloud of suspicion in the deaths.
Yep, just isolated incidents. No coordinated system of protection for pedophiles and the covering up of crimes by the Vatican.....

No bishop or cardinal has ever been punished or excommunicated from the church for their prominent roles in fostering child abuse and rape worldwide in the catholic church.
Check out around 2:05 where the pope actually slaps a reporter for asking a question about his role in the massive cover up. How shameful, this fuck nut runs the catholic church and used to be viewed as holy and infallible!

Amazing, all this shit happened in the last 50-100 years. Can you imagine the hell that was taking place in the middle ages?
