Thought it was big news that Rick Perry holds a double digit lead over Catcher's Mitt and others in the first major poll.

Nobody posted, so where are the Perry supporters?

On election night if he's the nominee Barack Obush will be crying after his landslide defeat.

I'm letting the field get fielded. I'm not certain we're at the core just yet, then I'll start researching the guys. I just finished End the Fed by Ron Paul, and I like where his head is, but he won't win.

Negative, bronchial, Perry would be much easier an opponent than Romney. The lunatic fringe will help him in the primary and the moderate republicans will ignore him in the general.

I don't know who is crazier, the lunatic fringe of each party or the hardcore partisans. They have combined to give us 11 years of inept leadership, 3 wars, and the worst economy since the great depression.

Kinda makes one long for moderates like Bill Clinton that weren't afraid to cut a deal....

Well, they haven't found Perry's love child yet. Nobody can out-sleaze John Edwards.

Perry bills feds for housing illegals
Associated Press ^ | August 26, 2011 | APRIL CASTRO

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- Texas Gov. Rick Perry has asked the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to reimburse the state $350 million to cover costs of imprisoning illegal immigrants.

In a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, the top-tier Republican presidential candidate blamed the federal government for not securing the border with Mexico, allowing illegal immigrants to cross over and use taxpayer-funded resources.

Agree on #1, but not a bit on the other two. The bought and paid corporatists in the middle of each party have held the power. The fringe typically come from solidly partisan districts where outlandish rhetoric won't hurt your chances at re-election. And while the Clinton presidency was during an era of relative peace and prosperity, free trade agreements and banking deregulation laid much of the groundwork for today's problems.

What's the over/under on the number of additional televised debates/interviews it will take for Perry to pop his cork and let the inner anger out? I put it at 2.5. Romney was just funnin' with ol' Rick the other night, and the Guv was simmering! :stir: :pissed:

THIS THIS THIS.

Perry just LOOKS like the kind of guy who has bullied his whole life and knows no other way.

Romney seems like the perfect foil for him - he'll knife him and never stop with that Donny and Marie smile of his.

Bill White, the Democratic mayor of Houston who ran against Perry for governor last year, was my college classmate. Darn smart guy (Harvard undergrad/UT law review), winsome personality, and pro-business. If he couldn't beat Perry in Texas with those creds, I doubt that any non-Latino Democrat could. Perry beat Bill over the head with the Harvard tag, too. We all know how smart those Aggies are.
