Does Ron Paul have a chance?

Dislike Jon Stewart or not, but I think he's spot on here:

http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/mon-a ... e-top-tier

AP declares him no longer fringe - http://news.yahoo.com/once-fringe-candi ... 32862.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

He's spot on about a lot of issues, but then he goes batshit crazy about some others that may make theoretical sense but just aren't feasible right now (e.g. returning to the gold standard from a fiat currency).

Fox News should be embarrassed. Was watching last night while the talking heads collectively took turns sucking Rick Perry's cock, while at the same time summarily dismissing Ron Paul as a "nice old guy who finished second in the straw poll, but lets face it, has no chance at being president".

Nice that they've already made that determination for America.

But their absolute love affair with Rick Perry is sickening.

They loved W, too, why wouldn't they love his successor? :coffee:

Not to mention this little gem of theirs from back in February:

Perry is the new "Golden Boy" of the GOP establishment :coffee:
Yes he may have a decent track record but being the Gov of Texas somehow gives him the birthright to become THE presidential favorite after being in the race for all of three minutes is ridiculous.

No, because the Republicans will fillet him.

Same reason the catcher's Mitt will have no chance, he will be filleted by his own party.

So then, It must going to be either Perry or Bachmann, and neither of them have a chance to win the general election.

Ron Paul scares the shit out of the establishment. The media is ignoring him. Read a columnist last night who talked about how the media is screwing him over. The Republican Party establishment is scared of him. Saturday morning was watching local news on a Des Moines TV station and they were interviewing our Repub gov. He was specifically asked about Ron Paul and the gov wouldn't even answer. Don't want to give him any credibility.

It's too bad he's off the deep end on a few issues because that is what the media and others focus on instead of the rest of the message.

But that's the same problem Perry has...he's off the deep end on religion, and just a flag-draped, country-lovin' Texan otherwise. :coffee:

I've said many times that Paul is an afterthought because he has never had enough organization to turn out real voters...

he did it at Ames - and he got fucked over.

He still doesn't have a chance, but his organization is a lot better - by the looks of it - a thousand or so of his supporters got Bachmann to buy their ticket to the poll, and cast votes for RP... that's impressive. He certainly has proven that he is real - and he deserves the same kind of attention the media-anointed "big 3" are getting... (and if he did, i'm convinced he'd fall away quickly) - I loathe the guy - but he got screwed.

He's on the offensive now.

Pretty corny commercial if you ask me though.

I love Ron Paul, but that had me laughing the whole time. Just awful.

And yeah, all the media outlets screw him over. CNN, MSNBC, FOX...I don't even remember him really talking much in the debates last week. Personally, I'd vote for him. I don't like his isolationist views nor his stance on abortion, but I'm sure the legislative and judicial branches will keep him in check if he tries anything too out there.

It's not as if the Democrats would run in droves to his camp either. Paul is pretty much unliked by both established political parties. If he wasn't such a whacko on some issues, that by itself would really make me want to vote for him.

still has to win a primary to get delegates - find it hard to believe he'll WIN anywhere - and since the GOP goes with winner-take-all for their primaries - he may get NO delegates at all.

Not completely accurate. New Hampshire, a state where Paul's message of Liberty rings loudly, is proportional and so are about a dozen others. I think if he can get 1st or 2nd in New Hampshire, that will drastically change how the rest of the race goes.
