Honestly though, this probably does not mean much at all.

That's right. We'll see how much staying power she has, now that Perry is in. A pay-to-play poll 15 months before the election lacks credibility.

Which election? The general? We're just a couple of months from the caucus. Therefore, for IA purposes, it probably says a lot.

A reminder: Huckabee won the '08 Iowa Caucuses.
Also, could she possibly be any
less photogenic? A porn-star couldn't have made a better face than that.

Oh, PUH-LEEZ.
A presidential candidate is not supposed to look sexy while they're eating.

So she barely beat Ron Paul...in Iowa...the state she orginates from? I think this was more a victory for Paul than anything. He barely got any airtime during the Republican debate, and is generally shunned by the media (I really think Fox News actually hates him lol), and he still only got beat by like 150 votes.
But then again, Paul makes too much sense, so naturally the Republican party isn't going to support him.

I realize the straw poll doesn't count but still. I am putting forth a motion to move the Iowa caucus to last in the nation. I live in a a very very conservative and sometimes nutcase state. But you guys make us look middle of the road

Who cares what 17,000 bored Iowans think on a Saturday afternoon in August? If it was on the ballot, more people would have voted that the weather was hot.

Close to 6 months. It doesn't say that much.

A big part of why Iowa and New Hampshire and South Carolina ago first (along with Nevada somewhat) is that those states are smaller - and therefore cheaper to run in. You can do retail and ground game politics there and not have to spend assloads on television. (though the Boston DMA isn't cheap for reaching NH, radio does more of the work anyway)
You'll never get the parties to support something like Florida or California or New York moving their primaries up too close for that very reason.
