Will: "The Debt Deal and Obama’s 2012 Problem"

For weeks, you could not fling a brick in Washington without hitting someone with a debt-reduction plan — unless you hit Obama, whose plan, which he intimated was terrifically brave, was never put on paper. In a prime-time spill of his usual applesauce about millionaires, billionaires and oil companies, he said, yet again, that justice demanded a “balanced” solution — one involving new revenue.
Obama’s presidency may last 17 or 65 more months, but it has been irreversibly neutered by two historic blunders made at its outset. It defined itself by health-care reform most Americans did not desire, rather than by economic recovery. And it allowed, even encouraged, self-indulgent liberal majorities in Congress to create a stimulus that confirmed conservatism’s portrayal of liberalism as an undisciplined agglomeration of parochial appetites. This sterile stimulus discredited stimulus as a policy.
America may be one-third of the way through a lost decade — or worse, toward a lost national identity. So, Republicans have their 2012 theme: “Is this the best we can do?”

Once again, George Will has observed and used his intellect to rationally analyze the situation logically to point out the failure in leadership emminated from the White House and not fall for the emotion laden hysterical cries that the Tea Party members were acting as terrorists that held the country hostage.

Isn't it great how liberal politicians and pundits will call a conservative politician a terrorist but won't call a muslim terrorist a muslim terrorist?

Right on. "Is this the best we can do," indeed! Obama has been tuned out by everyone in the USA except for the hard-core "entitlements constituency." He's the new Mr. Irrelevant.

Unfortunately, the entitlements constituency is rather large.

Great quote! ...and more than a little truth to it!

Point of order. Although her landing strip does have an angled deck, you would still need an arrestor hook to get onto it, and the F-15 is not equipped with that in most versions. You would just bolter off the butt, whack the back of her head, and go into the drink.
Better to try to set an F-18 down on it.

I think you could land two C-5s on it, at the same time!

This "debt deal" does nothing more than cut the deficit INCREASE from another $10 trillion to another $8 trillion.
As I said earlier, only in D.C. is reducing the rate of increase called a "cut". If we're fucked as a country at $14 trillion in debt, how will we be at $22 trillion?
I swear, sometimes I think there's retardation in the water in D.C.
