What has their reporting been like on the Murdoch/hacking scandal?

Just curious, haven't watched.

Watching Fox News is a lot like owning a Dodge, you know you have a turd on your hands, but you can't really trade your way out of it, and you simply do not want anybody else to know.

Nobody seems to want to admit to watching Fox News anymore, I can't say as I blame them.

That's whats so cool about this, ratings are huge, and nobody is watching.

I don't watch Fox News...or CNN for that matter...but I do read both web pages...

Fox is covering the story, but not to the extent that CNN is...

I flip the channels and watch Fox News somewhat often. Their news component is very good, in my mind. It's the Conkmentators afterward (Greta, Bill, Sean, etc) that make so many stomachs turn.

That's a very fair and balanced comment, Cap'n. Just report the damned news. I listen to CNN on XM in the mornings and Ali Velshi is about the most annoying biased commentator out there....he'll attack any Conk out there while listening patiently to the other side. If news is your biz, check your bias at the door when the light comes on.

CNN has a raging stiffie about the whole Murdoch deal - seems the other guys including Fox are reporting on it, but not with as much fervor.

I like Shep Smith on Fox OK, but he spends too much time on the celebrity stuff (all Caylee, all the time). But, come to think of it, even ABC-NBC-CBS are doing that.

I have absolutely no problem saying I watch Fox News. I also watch MSNBC. Fox News has news reports and it has opinion programing. In my opinion the news reports as as accurate as anybody else's are. Yes, they report some things other's wouldn't report. But that's good. That's why I watch the channel.

I think the common response to Fox News criticism is accurate. For many decades "progressives" or "liberals" or whatever you want to call them had a monopoly on dominant news media being highly biased towards their world view. Then Fox News came along with a bias towards another world view and became popular. They couldn't tolerate that so they spend a lot of time on efforts to discredit Fox News. They don't want people to be exposed to ways of looking at things that contradict their world view so they basically use an ad hominem approach to try to get people not to expose themselves to it.

To answer Sky's question, I have seen reports on what's happened in England on Fox News Channel. But they don't spend nearly as much time on it as MSNBC does. MSNBC is presenting it as possibly the end of all Murdoch media.

Well, I guess I'll have to watch it again since I haven't watched it for a while and maybe try to relate what I'm talking about. But I used to watch it all the time and thought it was very biased. The fact that someone comes off as calm and expressionless when they present something does not necessarily mean it's an unbiased presentation. Also, bias can be reflected in the selection of topics to present.

Finally something I would agree with the Cap'n about. I used to watch that show almost religiously back when Robert MacNeill was on. I do consider FOX to tell the truth about their motto (at least the newsies, anyway; I typically don't watch much in the way of commentators on either side). That said, I've always enjoyed other PBS shows like Washington Week in Review and the McLaughlin Group because they intentionally schedule pundits from BOTH sides. That's something CNN does sporadically and MSNBC flat-out REFUSES to do.

I flip around through all of them.

When I'm in the States, I spend most of my time on CNN and FOX, but generally do not watch the commentary shows.

Here in Vietnam I get BBC World and CNN (Asia edition) so that's what I watch.

50% of Fox viewers are Dems. 90% of the Dems here watch.

I watch Fox News but mostly read their web page.

I dont mind O'Reilly hes pretty fair, but if I ever get the chance to punch that whiny cu*t Hannity I will go out of my way to take it. I would like to tie him to Olbermann and throw them both into shark infested waters.

Coulda set my watch by the time it took for Jellydonut to attempt to make hay about the NOTW scandal...this is an attack against Murdoch...not an attempt to bring NOTW to justice.

Only wish Jelly and the other dumbocrats demonstrated the same moral resolve when some whackjob hacks U.S. Govt. and politicians emails and records and publishes them for profit...

The tit for tat back and forth between FOX and the other news channels is nothing more than modern day soap opera. It is entertainment in and of itself.

If FOX went off the air tomorrow, MSNBC would have no foil and would probably fold soon after.
