Bachmann cites wrong John Wayne, praises notorious serial killer | Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) has a thing for John Wayne. In an interview yesterday with Newsmax, she said she wants to live in “John Wayne’s America.” And in the Iowa town of Waterloo today, where she announced her presidential candidacy, Bachmann told Fox News, “John Wayne was from Waterloo, Iowa. That’s the kind of spirit that I have, too.” But unfortunately for historically challenged Bachmann, as the Washington Times points out, the John Wayne born in Waterloo is John Wayne Gacy, the notorious serial killer who murdered 33 teenage boys and young men, not the iconic Western actor. Watch it:

Note: the both Bachmann's mistake and the Think Progress shows how little regard for research people have.
John Wayne was born in Winterset, Iowa, 3 hours from Waterloo. John Wayne Gacy was born in Chicago, but did live in Waterloo as an adult.
Is it too much to get some simple facts correct? Either from someone that is running for office, or from the media?

Thank God for the decorum exhibited by the judicial branch - somebody has to set a standard of behavior...
Except, of course, in Wisconsin...

it's her go-to move... nationally they call it "pulling a Palin" but MB was years ahead of her...

I think when she said he had his spirit, I think she simply meant that she is a clown. I don't think she was saying she was a serial killer.

Who gives a shit?
I just love how the gotcha media is salivating over this while our economy goes to hell in a hand basket.
Y'all keep worrying about what amounts to ad lib faux pas by politicians while those in the executive and legislative branches spend us into oblivion, because our creditors and future generations sure as hell ain't gonna remember what Michelle Bachmann said on the campaign trail. They're gonna remember the damage that Michelle Obama's husband and his cronies Pelosi, Reid, Geithner, and Bernanke did to all of us.

She also said she received no benefit from farm subsidies because she used all that money to pay the help with.
Put that in your crack pipe and smoke it.

The shitty part about the subsidies is just how hard it is to conclusively prove that she benefited directly from it... even though it's pretty clear she did, there is enough obfuscation to make it deniable.

Well, kind of like if I was to get a pile of free money from the government, I could say it did not benefit me. Maybe it in fact made me a worse person than I was. In that case wouldn't the government be responsible for the damage the pile of free money did to me??
Just throwing a few thoughts around this issue here..
