The question: Why not take bin Laden alive?

Seems pretty obvious that taking him alive would result in an immediate tsunami of counter-hostage-taking and or attacks on Americans abroad, plus it makes a nice juxtaposition with our rhetoric about democracy and the rule of law, for those that might be inclined to see those things as a weakness and think that we actually believe that shit.

It may or may not have happened but it ain't a new idea by any means and has been around for years in emails and posts on the nets. If they did it good for them, if they didn't they should have and they should be trumpeting it everywhere. General Pershing came up with the tactic back in 1911.

I'm just glad he's dead. Champagne never tasted as good as it did that night. It was a great day for the U.S. military. I only wish an Army SF UNIT had gotten him instead of the Navy SEALS. But whatever.
