Two-time presidential candidate and the 2004 Democratic Party VP nominee John Edwards has been indicted for misuse of federal campaign funds to conceal his affair with a staffer who bore his child.

My first impression of him was that he was a total fraud.

Much as I despise the smarmy sumbitch, a conviction on these charges is by no means a sure thing. Should be an interesting trial, that's for sure. It will keep the insufferable Nancy Grace employed after the Anthony trial ends.

As bad as Edwards is, I kind of hope this goes away, not for him, but for his kids' sake. They've put up with a lot and deserve some let up.

I don't think this is the strongest case either and it is not going to be easy to convict.

Intrigued to see that one of the two big "donors" at issue is the late Fred Baron, Esq. I was involved in a matter with him a few years back.

2. proving this is going to be TRICKY. misuse of campaign funds is VERY hard to prove... the laws are vague and opaque on purpose.
