The Steelers RB went on a complete Twitter rampage Monday in the wake of the downfall of Osama bin Laden, questioning people's reaction to bin Laden's death and drawing comparisons between 9/11 and the conspiracy theories regarding the "made by Hollywood" moon landings. The Steelers are backpedalling. In the past, the dude has supported Adrain Peterson's view that the NFL is tantamount to modern-day slavery.

You also had a similar dumbass post by that NBA player.
I've heard of a few college coaches who've banned their players from using twitter. If I was a head coach I certainly would. If I was a GM negotiating a contact for pro players I would include among all the numerous things that players are banned from doing in their contracts is having a twitter account, enforceable the same way everything else is enforced, by fines.
I read about during the lockout contracts aren't in effect, and therefore, all the things players are prohibited from doing, aren't in effect. So of course a ban in a player's contract on having twitter wouldn't be in effect during the lockout. In the same article a player (forgot who) talked about about all the stuff they are told how to do and can't do. These guys get paid a ton of $, but their lives are pretty regimented.

Who cares what an NFL player has to say about politics?
3rd down and 5, handoff to Mendenhall, hits the seam and stops to profess his belief in 9/11 conspiracy theory.

I fail to see how a single players' thoughts and opinions equate to 'The Steelers are backpedaling'.

What a player publicly says matters greatly to NFL teams. If a player speaks out against gays, Republicans, Democrats, the military, christians, jews, a particular race, the country in general, etc to where it turns off a large segment of the fan base then that has an effect on teams' bottom dollar and the player is going to get his pee pee slapped, as evidenced by Mendenhall's abrupt stop in his tweets and the Steelers going into damage control, albeit minor so far with the team releasing the statement.

Or any celebrity. Fortunately for all of us, stupidity is not illegal.

Actually, what he said about NFL being slavery made a lot less sense than his comments about OBL.

This.
I was happy to hear we got him, but the celebrating in the streets just seemed wrong.

From the article:
Mendenhall’s string of tweets ended around 6 p.m. Monday. He has not tweeted since.
Has he been seen since?

Read the article, bandl. It mentions that the team issued a statement distancing themselves from what Mendenhall tweeted.

Exactly. But it's not just the NFL. Look what just happened to Roger McDowell, arguably one of the best pitching role players in MLB history. You gotta know when to keep your mouth shut.

There are 1,400+ architects and engineers who agree with Mendenhall: : http://www.ae911truth.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
They have put there jobs on the line saying this, knowing this is very controversial stuff.

There are more demo experts who state it isn't a demo job than those who say it was.

If someone asked me the question: "Of all the engineers and architects in the world, approximately how many of those are probably feces-eating paranoiacs?"
