Wow, I hadn't seen Obama's presser yet. WAFJ. NOW you want to work with both parties? NOW you want people to put aside partisan politics? What a douche.

Get your blueblood nose outta the Mass hymnals and start reading something other than the Limbaugh Letter for once, friend. You're embarrassing yourself with your ign'ance.

At least you're regaining some of your swagger you lost on Tuesday. It's still misdirected and wrong, but at least you have it. :thumb:

No, really, start reading. The fog clears after a number of years and history is recorded more accurately to reveal the truth.

You realize how familiar that sounds to what a lot of the Bush people said right?

Like I've said for all my years on the boards. There are basically two teams and somehow people feel like they have to choose one team or the other and support it and fight it out even when their team isn't doing right by them. Nothing has changed Cap'n and that's a cold hard fact that we all have to come to grips with. :thumb:

Reagan had little to do with that, Joe. Read up on it, please. Historians credit Gorbachev and Bush1 and even Margaret Thatcher more than they do Reagan for the fall. Just take the time to read up on that myth.

Comedy aside, yes, JPII has been given more credit for that than Reagan...by sane thoughtful historians, too, and not Conks.

If you wish to give Thatcher credit (and it is deserved), then you have to give credit to Reagan. Thatcher and Reagan closely coordinated development and implementation of policy toward the Soviet Union. Still, it was only the United States that had the resources to make those policies successful. Britain couldn't possibly have done it by itself.

Don't get me wrong, Grad san, Reagan gets some credit, but NOTHING like he's been handed for this by Conk revisionists and blind fellaters of his mythological legacy such as Limbaugh, Hannity, Rove and others of their sorry ilk. In fact, every single President from World War II until the Fall gets as much credit as him for containing them and forcing them to hasten their demise through constant unsustainable expense toward an unattainable goal of world dominance. Reagan is little more than an asterisk to many in the entire affair, a guy who simply benefitted from growing media technology and coverage of it. Gorbachev was in the crucible. Reagan was a yapping chihuahua outside in the yard.
