DC sniper loses appeal

I don't know if this belongs in politics (except for those who oppose capital punishment), but it won't hurt my feelings at all to see this POS get the blue juice tonight. Cudos to Virginia for ONLY taking 7 yrs to make it happen.

Unfortunately it will be a painless lethal injection. But at least we Virginians have the guts to do it.AZGrizFan wrote:Exactly. Precisely why all those anti-death penalty **** can go suck a big one. There IS a place for it....and THIS is it.ASUG8 wrote:

Wait wait wait, according to some, the lethal injection causes a slow agonizing death reminiscent of drowning. If the drug cocktail isn't "cooked" properly, there may not be enough anesthetic to subdue the effects of the other drugs. I'm not against the death penalty, but I think a life sentence in a cell all alone would be worse. In this case, I hope the Chef used the wrong measuring cups.

Re: DC sniper loses appeal
Or maybe we could just let him wander around a Home Depot parking lot aimlessly while the team of Navy Seal snipers that took out the Somali pirates drop him like a bag of hammers when he least expects it.......JMU DJ wrote:TheDancinMonarch wrote:

I was at that Home Depot last week (a couple miles up the road from my house)! No joke! There's a shit ton of jammers in that place too, so why not just drop bags of hammers on him at inopportune times?ASUG8 wrote:Or maybe we could just let him wander around a Home Depot parking lot aimlessly while the team of Navy Seal snipers that took out the Somali pirates drop him like a bag of hammers when he least expects it.......JMU DJ wrote:

Let him rot in jail, getting three meals a day, having a bed, "free" healthcare, etc....at the taxpayers expense. I believe it is roughly $34K a year to keep someone in prison. If we wouldn't allow years and years of appeals it would cost next to nothing to use the death penalty. The only reason it cost so much to keep someone on death row is the fact they are there for, what, 10 years on average going threw appeal after appeal.JMU DJ wrote:TheDancinMonarch wrote:

I went to high school in the area that this guy was sniping random people. I'll never forget the way people were afraid to fill up their gas tanks, go shopping, or go anywhere.

I was on a murder jury in 1996 in NC where we found the SOB guilty and sentenced him to death - unfortunately, he had already been found guilty on two other counts prior to that and already had a death sentence for both. I checked a couple of months ago and the sucker is still on death row nearly 14 yrs later. Seems Virginia, Florida, and Texas are a lot more efficient getting these POS through the system.clenz wrote:Let him rot in jail, getting three meals a day, having a bed, "free" healthcare, etc....at the taxpayers expense. Like I said, the reason death row may cost more is the way the stupid fucking, at times litterally endless, appeals process works.ASUG8 wrote:I was on a murder jury in 1996 in NC where we found the SOB guilty and sentenced him to death - unfortunately, he had already been found guilty on two other counts prior to that and already had a death sentence for both. It's because every now and then the system gets things wrong and they have to go through these processes. Sometimes the system even 86's the wrong person. Doing away with the appeals process is not the way to solve this situation.

Agree...be alot cheaper if the cops would handle some of these....like Hasan last week....why the fok would you let him live when he is firing a gun? Or at least look the other way while someone else (like a family member) "handles" the situation....

I resisted posting in this thread until now, but the dichotomy was too obvious for me to ignore. Everyone who posted is against the death penalty, but everyone who posted wants this guy to die at the hand of Virginia's State Government.
Does anyone else find this odd?

I'm against the death penalty. I think murderers deserve to be killed... doesn't mean I think the government should do it, or that I think killing people has a place in a civilized society. Child rapists deserve to be fed to packs of wild dogs. Doesn't mean I support that as a viable punishment.Ivytalk wrote:Senator John Kerryjerryberry: I was aginst the death penalty before I was for it!![]()

I most certainly am NOT against the death penalty. In fact, I fully support it's use. My original post was made fully tongue-in-cheek.bobbythekidd wrote:I resisted posting in this thread until now, but the dichotomy was too obvious for me to ignore.
