We definitely need official national trade and manufacturing plans and policies that require congressional approval to change.

This is such trash. It's amazing how this guy and Heather Cox-Richardson are able to garner such large grossly uninformed audiences.
While not quite a myth, the claim that middle class Americans could comfortably live on a single income was an anomaly created by the post WWII economic boom. It was a brief and artificial time in our history. Living 'comfortably' is relative when you compare it to today. Living comfortably in this time meant surviving with much less. One car, one phone, one TV, and a house that averaged about 1,000 sq. ft. (just to name a few). Just imagine how many families could "live off one income" today if those were still the metrics.
Another outright lie in this "article" is the author's claim that the middle class has been shrinking since 1981. He claims 2/3 of Americans were middle class then. Not very accurate. The actual number is 59%. He is also claiming that the middle class now is "closer to only 40%". The fact is 51% of households are considered middle class. An actual 8% drop.
However, this author failed to mention the undeniable explosion of the upper middle class. In 1981, only 10% of households were considered upper middle class. Today, over 1/3 (31%) of households are considered upper middle class. Upward mobility in action...
This guy should be ashamed of himself.![]()
2). On glaring omission that you and those you follow continuously make is the industries dependent on that middle class to spend money on bougie items such as a 2nd car, affordable rent (since homeownership is in crisis), internet, iPhones, streaming services, etc. Hey Apple, purveyors of streaming services, home builders, landlords…We’re awfully sorry but the greedy middle class can no longer afford your modern standard of living propaganda. You’ll have to close shop.
Now consider that one glaring omission and tie it into the wealth gap.

Re: When socialism comes to America..
1). I’m seriously doubting your insistence that everyone recognizes the difference between social democracy and democratic socialists as a thing. I appreciate the difference, but the two are obviously interchanged throughout media and the punditry. And to pull that Bernie reference from 2016 is further evidence of you trying real hard to convince as though everyone has known for a long time. You either found these ideas in a single article and liked it, or it’s some knew attempt by right wing apparatchiks to exploit and divide over. But if you’re unwilling to be honest and produce where you got this idea from, you be you.Baldy wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2026 7:58 amkalm wrote: ↑Tue Jul 14, 2026 10:26 pm

Re: When socialism comes to America..
lol zero frustration at you continuing to pump out Fake News.
Who is ‘They’They didn't call the trillion-dollar
Wall St. Bailouts "Socialism"
There wasn’t a trillion dollar Wall Street bailout. According to Wiki 2008 under Bush TARP authorized 700 billion in loans, reduced to $475 billion authorized, with $443.5 billion distributed. ALL of that was paid back + interest, a profit for the American taxpayer. You know what was a bailout? Obama’s car industry bailout. GM and its financing arm GMAC didn’t come close to paying back what they were given. The American taxpayer was left holding the bag.
That’s because it’s Fake News.They don't call nearly $1 Trillion
in oil & gas subsidies "Socialism"
https://www.cato.org/blog/fossil-fuel-s ... -should-goFossil Fuel Subsidies Are Mostly Fiction, But the Real Energy Subsidies Should Go
You’ve probably heard the claim that fossil fuels are heavily subsidized by the federal government…:
….This common refrain simply doesn’t hold up. Official government data show that renewables are subsidized 30 times more than fossil fuels. Most of the subsidies are in the tax code, where 94 percent of the fiscal cost goes to green energy technologies. And even this breakdown is overstated. Most of what critics label as fossil fuel subsidies are standard tax treatments available to many industries.
In reality, the claim that fossil fuels are heavily subsidized simply doesn’t withstand scrutiny. While a few narrow subsidies exist and should be eliminated, the real outlier in the tax code isn’t fossil fuel subsidies but the scale of preferential treatment granted to renewable energy technologies.
Fossil Fuels Are Subsidized the Least
The US Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA) tallies all federal energy subsidies, including direct expenditures, tax expenditures, research and development, and loan guarantees. The result? Fossil fuels received the smallest share of federal subsidies on every metric…
And there’s no such thing as ‘tax expenditures’
Spare me you links with what the govt calls tax expenditures. A phrase that was codified into the Fed code by lib politicians, same as there’s no such thing as an ‘assault weapon’ or an ‘undocumented immigrant’.

El-Sayed and his wife earned $686,069 in 2025, including $262,000 in capital gains and income from two rental properties
Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, who has been intensely critical of the wealthy while on the campaign trail, makes enough money to put him and his wife in the top 1% of households in his state.
El-Sayed and his wife collectively earned $686,069 in 2025, according to recently released tax returns. To make it into the top 1% of earners in Michigan, households need to bring in just over $611,500, according to IRS data analyzed by Axios.
"For people who have accumulated so much wealth that your money makes money, at some point, we’re like, ‘well we can’t possibly tax them,’" El-Sayed said at an August 2025 campaign event. "If I told you how much wealth is held by the 300,000 most wealthy Americans in this country, it would blow your mind … so if we put a tax on wealth it would return a lot of that money back into public use."
The released return also lists $262,299 in capital gains, even as El-Sayed has criticized extreme wealth by arguing that some Americans have so much money that their "money makes money." The Senate hopeful, who reported owning two rental properties worth $750,000 in 2025, has also been critical of "greedy landlords."…

Another reason to tariff the shit out of stuff made in communist China..If not made in America, then make it in India, Taiwan, Malaysia, Vietnam, Mexico, wherever..BDKJMU wrote: ↑Wed Jul 15, 2026 12:11 pmI believe most is still made in China.
I prefer it be made in America, but if not then those other Asian countries you mentioned (or anywhere besides China).
China (all long before Trump 1):
1. We have a massive trade deficit.
2. They put tariffs on our goods.
3. They manipulate their currency.
4. They conduct state sponsored economic espionage and intellectual property theft on a ginormous scale.
5. They allowed virus to escape from one of their labs, costing us, and the rest of the world, tens of trillions of $$.
And whatever else I have left off.
https://redstate.com/wardclark/2026/07/ ... y-n2204430…China has penetrated not only our nation's voting records but possibly other systems as well. All in all, the personal data of over 200,000,000 Americans has been stolen by China…
…Newly available declassified documents and recent statements from President Trump are shining a light on the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) theft of personal data belonging to a staggering 220 million American voters.
According to investigative journalist Catherine Herridge, that massive haul — which can be combined with other hacked records such as 2015 security clearance applications and health data—creates serious risks for voter registration fraud, identity theft, and espionage recruitment.…
….One of the documents released (all the documents declassified and released may be downloaded here) reveals at least some of what was compromised, and to call it alarming is to indulge in the grossest of understatements:
*In 2016: 204,822,241 records of "Unspecified U.S. voter data," including names, ages, phone numbers, and addresses.
*In 2017: 1,746,069 records of "Named U.S. state 1 voter database," including voter IDs, full names, current addresses, previous addresses, birth dates, gender, and phone numbers.
*Also in 2017: 7,893,248 records of "Named U.S. state 2 voter database," including voter IDs, full names, current addresses, former addresses, birth dates, gender, and citizenship information.
It wasn't all voter information. Also listed are 28 million records taken from an "Unspecified U.S. citizen medical database, including social security numbers and other information redacted from the record. Records were also stolen from, alarmingly, a "Named U.S. biogenetics group," a "Named U.S. school," along with business services companies, web services companies, and even a "named U.S. cyber-security company."
This is the information that legacy media outlets, including CBS, NBC, and CNN, didn't think was important enough to air.

NYC a city of useless freeloaders and scammers ….
New York City doled out more than $2.6 billion in cash assistance to city residents in 2025, a Fox News Digital review of city records showed.
The money reached a record 864,999 people, a 30-year high not matched since before former Mayor Rudy Giuliani instituted major welfare reform in the early 2000s

https://justthenews.com/government/loca ... -netanyahuMamdani says in 'active conversation's with NYC's law department to arrest Netanyahu
New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani reportedly says he's in an "active conversation” with the city's Law Department on whether he has the authority to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when he arrives in September for a United Nations General Assembly.
Mamdani, a Muslim and a democrat-socialist, made the comment in an interview with The New York Times, the newspaper reported Friday….
Lawl at the commie Islamist mayor of NYC. Proving himself to be a moron ignorant of the laws. If he tries to order the NYPD to arrest Netanyahu, the are going to tell him to fuck off.
3. head-of-state immunity applies, &
4. federal authority trumps any local mayor’s wishes.
This is pure political theater.

MAHER: “Yes, my vote is in play.”
“Because it can’t be Trump running…so I’m not living in communist America.”
“I mean, I know the talking point is that, it’s not communism and socialism.”
“Okay. I’ve read the quotes from the DSA platform, from their own mouths.”
“Don’t tell me I’m not seeing what I am seeing!”
“And DSA, again, they say things like, you know, take over of key industries, government.”
“That’s communism.”

I think it's fair to ask why are these views becoming more popular? Is there something broken, something that needs fixing within our current system?BDKJMU wrote: ↑Sun Jul 19, 2026 7:43 pmanymore.”
