Perhaps I didn't post correctly. I know quite a few people who are religious and it is not allowed to use protection during sex. The only way they can have sex, due to religious beliefs, is to use the old hope and pray you counted your days correctly from period to period.

I find it funny that anyone would relate what goes on in a neighbor's house (beating kids, etc.) to what goes on in a neighbor's body. I want 89 to take care of all the cells in his body...they all have a right to live. He is not allowed to hurt himself, specifically his liver, but also any of his other parts because his living cells, all with their rights to live peacefully within him, should not be killed by cigarettes, beer, or golf (it can drive the mind to insanity at times).

I understand your point completely. I also understand the other side and it leaves me conflicted. It isn't an easy "this is their body they can do what they want with it" or "it's murder and should be outlawed except when the mother's life is in danger" argument. You're dealing with conceptual questions about when life begins that I'm not qualified to answer and my gut feel is to ask: is this something I want to be wrong about? The answer to that is no. Then I have to admit that my answer applies to me personally and then ask: can and should I ask or (legislatively/legally) force that same answer on others? That one I can't answer as confidently.

And for the record, I apply the "is this something I want to be wrong about?" question to climate change as well and believe that we need to do something about man's impact on the environment.

Father yelling at a pregnant mother? Jail time for abusing the unborn infant. Father coming home late from work? Jail time for causing stress to the unborn baby.

Any naturally aborted babies will need a thorough investigation to make sure the parents did not have anything to do with the death of the baby.

The father and mother should be held for trial to make sure that they were doing everything in their power to carry the child to birth in only the healtiest way. Fathers should also be able to be held and tried for child neglect if they aren't always around helping out during pregnancy.
