BTW, nothing wrong with Kansas the band as far as I'm concerned. I'm not a musician. That's stipulated. But as an outside consumer that is the most impressive "popular" band I've ever seen or heard musically as far as seeing musicians and saying, "Holy crap" and "wow." Yes and Emerson Lake and Palmer are up there too. But if I had to pick it'd be Kansas.

The sad thing is that I can't think of ANYTHING in the last 30 years or so.

Obviously subjective on how to rank a musician's talent but there have been many bands in the last 30 years with truck loads of talent. For example and one which made the list is the Police. Their ranking is based off of Andy Summers but I always thought Copeland was one of the better drummers around.

Then there's more recent acts like the White Stripes, Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys…that are very talented at every position.

This list has Linkin Park (who I actually like) ahead of bands like Deep Purple, The Doors, Van Halen, Metallica, The Police, etc. Your list is broken.

‘Trigger-happy’ brother of Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback accused of terrorizing neighbor family

According to the Topeka Capital-Journal, Jim Brownback is known by his neighbors and residents of Linn County as a trigger-happy bully who uses his famous last name to get his way and avoid the consequences of his actions.

“Adversaries say he has woven a liquor-infused tapestry of fear colored by intimidation, abuse and lies. The saga features stalking, death threats, trespassing, drive-by gunfire, massive explosions, cattle theft, loan defaults, hit-and-run driving and marital strife,” wrote the Capital-Journal‘s Tim Carpenter.

Locals fear him, said Carpenter, and many were reluctant to speak on record for fear of reprisal in one of Jim Brownback’s campaigns of so-called “neighborhood terrorism.”

Joann Peine, a Linn County social worker, filed suit seeking protection orders for stalking against Brownback and his stepdaughter in the culmination of a conflict that stretches back years. Her family’s property abuts Brownback’s and told the Capital-Journal that Brownback seems to get a ckick out of terrorizing her three sons and herself.

“He thinks he’s invincible,” she said. “He’s titillated by harassing us. He finds it funny.”

The genesis of the two families’ conflict was in 2011, when one of Brownback’s dogs attacked and mauled the Peine family’s dogs, as well as a boar and sow in their barnyard. The dog had to be captured and euthanized by the Peines before it could inflict further damage.

When confronted, Brownback said that he had no idea who owned the pit bull, when in fact, the dog belonged to his stepdaughter, Kara Jo Earnest. Thus began a campaign of harassment and intimidation by the Brownback family.

Groups of men from Brownback’s property will reportedly ride four-wheeler off-road vehicles pellmell through the Peine family’s property, tearing up sod and wrecking fences.

Since then sporadic gunshots have run out in the woods between the properties. Someone dumped barrel of nails in the Peine’s driveway and committed other acts of malicious mischief including the theft of their mailbox and the slaughter of the Peine’s family dog, a black Labrador retriever.

Inspectors found Brownback and his family in possession of the explosive Tannerite, with which they would make homemade bombs with mason jars and cans, then shoot them, setting off explosions and fireballs between the two properties.

“It’s legal,” Brownback reportedly said to deputies about the bomb-making supplies. “It’s legal.”

Any time police or sheriff’s deputies attempt to rein in Brownback, he reportedly threatens to bring down the wrath of his powerful brother’s office and law enforcement has thus far always stood down.

does not ever (ever) simply generate new jobs

You're talking about 1 state out of 50 and arguing that it's problems show that failure of right wing policies. How are the other states doing in comparison? How is Wisconsin doing? Has it gone down the toilet after Walker made his corrections? How is Illinois doing? Illinois has a Democratic governor and General Assembly that have failed to make any meaningful reforms and the state economy is completely in the toilet. Does that prove that all left wing policies are abject failures?

When I'm in Wisconsin and I see a car with a Recall Walker bumper sticker I want to offer to trade Quinn & Madigan for Walker.
